Job Description: 

MountainKing Potatoes seeks a QA Manager for its Houston, Texas fresh potato packing plant. This operation is a very fast paced and high volume packer of many different fresh potato products.

The QA Manager, by supervising the QA staff and working with the Plant Manager, will insure that all products will meet both MountainKing Potatoes specifications and each customer’s receiving standards. This position is newly created and offers immediate management responsibility, top compensation, and the potential for prompt advancement for the right person.

The QA Supervisor must be able to understand systems and be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Requirements: 
  • Recent experience as quality control for a high-volume fresh fruit or fresh vegetable packing plant.
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant education to be able to communicate effectively with staff, operations managers and senior management both orally and in written reports.
  • Bi-lingual English-Spanish preferred.
  • Knowledge of USDA quality and condition standards for fresh fruit and vegetables.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Together with your staff of six, direct all quality control activities in the packing facility, including communicating quality objectives and expectations to plant management and operations. These responsibilities will cover a multiple shift operation that spans all hours of the day.
  • Organize and standardize quality specifications and procedures for the plant operations staff to follow.
  • Oversee and manage Quality Control program, including scheduling staff, setting expectations, and measuring the success of the quality programs.
  • Manage the quality control for all incoming products, including detailed reports of defects for the sourcing staff.
  • Manage quality training programs for your staff, and the plant production staff.
  • Investigate and manage customer complaints, coordinating with sales and operations to find solutions to problems to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Coordinate with the in-plant USDA inspectors.
