Job Description:
The Produce Buyer will drive the company forward through strong management of responsible commodity group. As a Buyer, your key responsibility is to create opportunities on a daily and weekly basis by anticipating markets to maximize selling opportunities.

Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of retail produce management, Sales and/or Buying experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or related discipline required.
- Knowledge of USDA standards.
- Knowledge of PACA laws.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Proven ability to effectively negotiate and build strong partnerships.
- Solid computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office software (specifically Excel)
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Financial analysis skills and understanding of how purchase price impacts gross profit margins.
- Ability to prioritize, manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions.
- Previous experience in a fast paced and demanding work environment.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Work directly with current vendors as well as building new vendor relationships in order to source opportunities for our retail and wholesale chain accounts.
- Place daily calls to our vendors to discuss availability, market trends, and pricing for all commodities – Both conventional and organic.
- Negotiate FOB and delivered pricing with our vendors in order to hit price targets for our customers.
- Offer opportunities daily on all commodities for weekly, monthly, and seasonal deals.
- Entering PO’s and managing inventory level.
- Collaborate with Buying, Sales, Packing, Transportation, Operations, and Quality Control staff to ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction.
- Manage assigned commodity group to service our sales team and customer base.
- Set a consistent example in leadership style, communication and integrity.
- Present opportunities to the sales team in our weekly meetings along with sharing market information on assigned commodities.
- Full-time, Monday-Friday; 6:30am-4:30pm - Every 8th week, Saturday and Sunday rotation; half day shifts, 8am-12pm with following Tuesday off. This is a salaried position.
