Job Description: 

Capitol City Produce, the largest provider of fresh produce in Louisiana, is seeking an energetic and highly engaged individual for the role of Procurement Supervisor. Your ability to create value through fresh ideas for sales promotions, to introduce new products and to create competitive advantages through an extraordinary procurement team will be highly valued.  The position reports to the Director of Procurement.

Requirements: 
  • 10+ years experience in the procurement of produce, preferably in a foodservice distribution environment.
  • Two to five plus years of supervisory and team development experience.
  • Ability to procure in constantly changing demand and inventory position situations.
  • In-depth knowledge of the produce industry including commodity sources, growing regions, standard industry practices, food safety requirements and supply chain logistics.
  • Excellent negotiation skills; ability to execute plans; comfortable with accountability.
  • Excellent analytical skills; ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office software.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred, from an accredited university.

  • Invest in relationships that support creating competitive advantages.
  • Provide energetic and engaged supervision of the procurement department.
  • Manage inventory to match supply with demand.
  • Obtain product at optimal pricing.
  • Conduct research for new products and present them to management.
  • Collaborate with sales to develop and support special promotional activities. 
  • Conduct monthly vendor and category reviews to ensure partnerships are growing.
