JOB FILLED - Maintenance Supervisor

Job Description: 

The Maintenance Supervisor will serve in a variety of functions in the Maintenance Department including supervision of maintenance personnel, developing and implementing processes to minimize mechanical downtime and optimize preventative maintenance techniques. The Maintenance Supervisor will serve as a technical expert to plant personnel and work with/manage contractors/vendors working with the maintenance department. The Maintenance Supervisor will be called upon to assist with troubleshooting and root cause analysis to reduce or eliminate any mechanical, electrical or other problems that may affect production. The Maintenance Supervisor will ensure efficient operation and cost effective repair of Datepac LLC equipment and infrastructure which may include electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronics, PLC, instrumentation, robotics and programing. Maintenance Supervisor will approach projects and activities with visible motivation and an innovative mindset.

Requirements: 
  • Experience supervising employees.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with equipment, processes, and practices used in food manufacturing.
  • Good knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and building repair, refrigeration, boilers, pneumatics, PLCs, machining, welding, HVAC, and general construction practices and working with CMMS.
  • Strong working knowledge of electronics / instrumentation, robotics, and/or programming.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with Safety regulations and practices and food safety regulations and practices.
  • Expert knowledge of environmental regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to train employees Certification in Electrical, Manufacturing Maintenance, Industrial Controls, PLC’s/Programming and/or validatable skills in these areas.
  • A minimum of 1 year experience working in food manufacturing.
  • A minimum of 2 years working in maintenance including working understanding of Preventive Maintenance and CMMS systems.
  • A minimum of 1 year supervising maintenance staff.
  • 1 to 3 years’ experience working with electronics / instrumentation, robotics, and / or programming.
  • 2 to 5 years' of experience working with industrial controls and PLC logic.
  • This job operates in a manufacturing plant as an advanced technical resource and has duties in a office setting. This role routinely uses standard shop tools, diagnostic troubleshooting tools, and office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • This position is considered a physically demanding position. This position will require that the employee with or without accommodations will need to regularly engage in physical activities such as walking, pushing, pulling, climbing, bending. Must be able to climb ladders reaching in excess of 30 feet.
  • The position requires the employee with or without accommodation to regularly be able to lift 50-70 pounds. In addition the employee will regularly have to stand or walk on concrete floors.
  • The employee will also be engaged in other activities such as repetitive motion, sitting, and other sedentary movements.
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Supervision of maintenance team to include (but not limited) training, motivating, determining work schedules, employee evaluations etc., employee discipline, coaching and mentoring.
  • Serve as technical support to plant personnel, this is a working supervisor position.
  • Assist with trouble shooting and root cause analysis.
  • Work with and manage outside contractors.
  • Effective communication with maintenance staff.
  • Being able to prioritize workload according to collaboration with the Director of maintenance, technology and Engineering.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources on HR functions related to maintenance employees.
  • Being able to maintain confidentiality in all matters regarding employees.
  • Ensure efficient operation and cost-effective repair of equipment and plant infrastructure, with a focus on electronics/PLC / instrumentation, robotics, and programming.
  • Training mechanics to be trainers for maintenance issues.
  • Working knowledge of machine and building layouts.
  • Must be able to read mechanical  blueprints and electrical circuit diagrams, ladder logic  schematics.
  • Utilize CMMS to optimize asset utilization through scheduled preventive maintenance throughout asset useful life.
  • Assist in the utility cost reduction efforts.
  • Collaborate with Director of Maintenance to assist with the design and installation efforts.
  • Knowledge of current information regarding the latest technology related to the manufacture of date products.
  • Remain current with latest and emerging industry regulations and codes relative to mechanical and electrical systems design and operation.
  • Propose and implement improvement plans to enrich the Shift Maintenance Teams awareness around safety, quality and applied technology.
  • All other duties as assigned.
