Job Description: 

We are seeking a Vendor Managed Inventory Specialist to join and support our procurement team!

The Vendor Managed Inventory Specialist is responsible for managing and replenishing the produce inventory at our customer distribution centers and cross-dock supply partners. The process begins with the placement of an order and involves all aspects through the receipt of final payment for that order. The Vendor Managed Inventory Specialist will become familiar with our customer’s organization, product needs, processes and procedures. They will analyze historic sales data and gain knowledge of produce growing regions to forecast daily inventory needs. They will be responsible for ordering, tracking and reporting correct cross-dock inventory levels from supply partners to our internal accounting team. Accurate forecasting of future sales data will be reported to supply partners to secure product availability for upcoming orders. Responsibilities also include compiling and reporting future weekly sales data to our internal pricing committee to track expected weekly margins. Communication is a key aspect of the daily work flow, the VMI Specialist is expected to report all potential inventory issues as they arise to the Director of Vendor Managed Inventory.

Requirements: 
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • An associate’s degree in economics, logistics, supply chain management or business administration is highly preferred
  • A minimum of three years of successful vendor management experience in the produce industry and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience, or the ability to successfully perform the duties within 90 days of employment is required
  • Ability to utilize QuickBooks and Microsoft Office programs including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook
  • Proficiency in operations of standard office equipment such as computer, laptop, printer, copier, scanner, fax machine, cell phone, multi-line phone system and other standard office equipment
  • The ability to type by touch and 10-key by touch is required
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Timely and accurate fulfillment of daily replenishment orders for customers
  • Maintain strong communication with our internal procurement team, and the customers we serve
  • Collect sales data and manage weekly reports to track and improve key Vendor Managed Inventory performance metrics
  • Accurate forecasting of sales data sent to pricing committee and supply partners
  • Utilize available data, reports, and other resources to remain knowledgeable on our customers inventory Management system
  • Identify the most timely, efficient, and cost-effective strategies for servicing customer inventory needs
  • Maintain a cross-dock inventory level spreadsheet for product delivering to supply partner facilities to guarantee all purchase orders in and out match
  • Establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with key customer contacts, particularly warehouse functions including, quality assurance, distribution shipping/receiving departments, and buyers/merchandisers
  • Report on daily Vendor Managed Inventory performance metrics
  • Assist in sourcing product, logistics, and other procurement initiatives
  • Effectively handle the day-to-day challenges that are presented in the produce industry
  • Proficient daily problem solving and organizational skills
  • Ensure suppliers meet the quality and design standards for all products
Ideal Candidate: 
The individual in this position should have advanced knowledge, education, training, and experience in vendor inventory management, or the ability to successfully perform the duties within 90 days of employment.  He or she must have well-developed interpersonal skills to deal with employees, vendors, and customers on matters of a confidential or sensitive nature and the ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.  He or she must have excellent organizational and time management skills to certify maximum productivity. He or she must be adept at working on multiple concurrent tasks, with constant interruptions, and have the ability to work without supervision while performing duties. The ability to work as a team player is required.
