JOB FILLED - Area Manager

Job Description: 

The Area Manager is responsible for developing and executing the marketing, sales and merchandising strategies to generate growing and profitable retail sales in assigned area. This position is also responsible for forecasting sales in the assigned areas, while managing subordinate merchandisers.

This is a remote position that will be servicing the Wisconsin, Michigan, and Illinois regions.

Requirements: 
  • College coursework related to above functions (related Bachelor’s Degree preferred);
  • At least 3 years successful experience in the same or similar position managing merchandisers for a large wholesale distributor of fresh produce selling to retailers.
  • Proficient PC skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and common E Mail systems.
  • Valid identification or driver’s license (if appropriate).
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Develop and execute marketing, sales and merchandising strategies to generate growing and profitable retail sales in assigned area.
  • Forecast in assigned area.
  • Manage subordinate merchandisers, subordinates and managers.
  • Maintain organized, written employee training and discipline records in coordination with the Sales and Marketing Director – Indianapolis Fruit Company, Inc., Human Resources and General Counsel.
  • Make sales calls on current and prospective customers.
  • Coordinate customer problem resolution.
  • Control customer relations and credit terms.
  • Direct, teach and implement seasonal re-sets in produce departments to an approved plan-o-gram.
  • Direct, teach and implement the building of special produce displays.
  • Coordinate with outside and inside reps on budget, gross profit, sales and strategic goals for Indianapolis Fruit.
  • Complete all administrative work and sales and merchandising reports in a timely manner.
  • Conduct teaching and training sessions on an individual and group basis as required.
  • Acquire new customers in accordance with objectives.
  • Collect market and competition data
  • Maintain regular and satisfactory full-time attendance.
  • Perform work outside of normal business hours as needed and required.
  • Supply and educate customers, retail store owners, managers and produce directors with point of sale and point of purchase materials.
  • Perform special projects as assigned by the Sales and Marketing Director – Indianapolis Fruit Company, Inc.
