What an exciting time here at VegPro International Inc., here in beautiful Coldstream, British Columbia.
We have purchased approximately 700 acres of land in Coldstream and we will build a produce packing plant of 70,000 square foot state. We intend to begin operations in BC starting in the spring/early summer of 2018. We are currently accepting application for an Operations Engineer and Continuous Improvement. The experienced individual will act as an expert in the processing and packaging of fresh salad and vegetables and will pursue risk reduction objectives in health and safety, quality improvement, maintenance of service excellence and reducing operating costs. To do this, you will optimize the performance of production lines, design and implementation of innovative solutions and management of improvement projects within the company.
Ensure the performance of production lines:
- Act as an expert in solving technical and operational problems
- Ensure the maintenance of high standards of performance and product quality
- Promote and train staff (production, maintenance and engineering) on good operational practices and their maintenance
- Ensure the implementation of the best manufacturing practices; Lean manufacturing, Kaizen, SMED ... in team with the production
- Participate in breakage analysis as well as improvement of maintenance programs and techniques
- Support and encourage the development of technical skills of maintenance and production employees
- Anticipate future needs and make recommendations to managers on future improvement projects to implement
Design and implement engineering solutions:
- Design solutions on 3D software - SolidWorks in collaboration with various departments
- Ensure the cohesion of the design with the rules and standards of engineering
- Work in collaboration with internal and external suppliers to develop and implement optimal solutions
Manage improvement projects:
- Assist in the deployment and implementation of new processes and equipment (systems / machines) of the plant
- Offer expertise to project managers on the issues and operational realities of the plant
- Gather the information necessary for the optimal operation of systems and equipment
- Lead the implementation of good reliability practices for new equipment
- Lead continuous improvement projects
Enforce corporate policies and procedures:
- Work safely and report any situation of concern or risk to employees of the company;
- Work with professionalism and diligence.
- Perform other related duties.
- University degree in mechanical, industrial or automation engineering
- 3-7 years’ experience in a similar position
- Good knowledge of the manufacturing sector
- Knowledge of the agri-food sector (an asset)
- Have a sharp mechanical sense
- Intermediate knowledge of CAD software - 3D
- Fluency in oral and written English
- Strong interpersonal skills
