JOB FILLED - Marketing Information Specialist

Job Description: 

Southern Valley has a career opportunity available for a talented and motivated individual to join our team. We are looking for a Marketing and Information Specialist who would promote Southern Valley’s story to our current and potential customers, as well as the produce industry. The Marketing Information Specialist will be responsible for managing the company’s marketing initiatives, as well as effectively using market research and analysis to direct marketing strategies and planning.

Responsibilities & Duties: 

Uses the Marketing Directors vision to craft Southern Valley’s short (1-4 weeks), medium (harvest season) and long range (1-3 years) information strategy.

  • Develops an approach for all forms of communication to promote Southern Valley’s story to our current and potential customers as well as the produce industry.
  • Craft all forms of communication (newsletter, blog, picture/video, presentations, advertisement etc.) to ensure Southern Valley is promoted to our current and potential customers in a positive and professional manner.
  • Create/Update the Southern Valley website in a manner that drives utilization by current or potential customers.
  • Monitor customer access of the Southern Valley website to ascertain who’s accessing the site as well as derive the intent of user.
  • Solicit feedback from customers to make changes or modifications to the website that will facilitate customer utilization and satisfaction.
  • Ensure the information on the website is accurate, current, and updated to promote the continuous developments and modifications Southern Valley incorporates in our ever-changing produce industry.
  • Utilize Social Media forums to promote Southern Valley’s story with current and potential customers, as well as provide a platform to receive customer feedback/dialogue.
  • Assist the Marketing Director in crafting a monthly update meeting for Southern Valley Executive Leaders (presented during the weekly operations meeting), to maintain situational awareness of Southern Valley’s approach to information dissemination.
Conducts research on current or trending products (commodities, packaging or business practices) in order to lay the foundation for Southern Valley’s ability to remain competitive going forward.
 
  • Assist the Marketing Director in conducting research and development on Southern Valley’s products, processes or approach in order to secure and maintain a competitive advantage in the produce industry.
  • Assist the Marketing Director in preparing and conducting monthly meetings with the Southern Valley Executive Leaders on opportunities for growth reference to products, processes or approaches to business practices.

Adheres to the Marketing Departments operational rhythm to facilitate customer development in the short, medium and long-range time frames.

  • Works in accordance with the marketing departments schedule(s) (daily, weekly, monthly) to delineate the 5 W’s (who, what, where, when, and why) perspective for business to business relations development. The intent is to ensure the marketing team is available as needed to meet the needs of our customers.
    • If this means you need to attend a food show, dinner or company sponsored event outside the normal working hours (on the weekend or at night), it’s imperative the Marketing Information Specialist is available to attend.
    • Be prepared to conduct customer presentations as required in order to convey Southern Valley’s capacity or capabilities with current or potential customers.
    • Assist the Marketing Director in preparing and conducting monthly meetings with the Southern Valley Executive Leaders on opportunities for growth reference to customers.
    • Assist the Director of Marketing in crafting a plan of action for the marketing team to ensure all marketing personnel are provided clarity with respect to their task and purpose.
    • Assist the Director of Marketing and Marketing Account Coordinator in developing a Southern Valley Business Development & Marketing plan of action.
    • Maintains situational understanding with respect to customer relations in order to meet or exceed the customer requirements as/when they change.
    • Receives the Southern Valley Evaluation tool to assess the performance of the personnel assigned to the Business Development and Marketing Team on an annual basis.
    • Adheres to the Marketing Teams Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the Marketing operations to maintain situational awareness with respect to the who, what, where when and why of marketing.
    • Brings new/potential SOP recommendations to the Marketing Director for marketing personnel to follow to achieve success on day to day operations.

Assist the Director of Marketing with miscellaneous actions as necessary to posture the marketing team and Southern Valley for success.

  • Conduct Southern Valley tours (see the Southern Valley Tour SOP for additional information on the types of tours as well as the process to conduct A, B or C tours) for internal and external customers as required.
  • Completes all necessary administrative task and functions such as emails, reports, phone calls or other task as assigned by the Marketing Director in support of the marketing team mission.
Qualifications: 
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe InDesign and Adobe PhotoShop highly desired
  • Personable, presentable, and articulate.
  • A proven ability to work with a variety of people and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
