JOB FILLED - Operations Director

Job Description: 

Analyze business objectives and results, formulate staffing, training and utilization plans, processes, system and equipment needs, in order to safely meet or exceed those objectives. Responsibilities include Warehousing, Inventory Control, Quality and Safety, Transportation, and Facility Engineering and Maintenance. Collaborate closely and effectively with all other departments, including Sales, Procurement, Processing, and Shared Services.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Collaborate closely with senior management team to understand business objectives, trends, and both immediate and long-term goals.
  • Develop, implement, measure, and adjust strategies and operational plans in order to meet those objectives while maintaining a safe workplace/workforce and maintaining compliance with relevant Company and regulatory policies.
  • With direct report department managers, create staffing and utilization plans and annual budgets, including capital expenses. Monitor performance and adjust to changing conditions in order to meet or exceed objectives.
  • Develop and implement performance metrics for each department; report results to senior management; adjust within Operations and collaborate with other areas to achieve continuous improvement.
Qualifications: 

Minimum Qualifications include

  • Five years’ experience in warehousing/logistics, including 3 years in leadership/management roles.
  • 4-year degree in operations management, logistics, business, or related field, OR 4 years additional experience in operations/logistics leadership roles.
  • Experience must include direct responsibility for creating and monitoring budgets and accountability for financial results

Preferred Qualifications include

  • Management experience in a foodservice distribution environment, including responsibility for oversight of multiple departments (whether simultaneously or sequentially). Candidates with experience most closely matching or exceeding this preferred qualification will be given priority.
  • Six Sigma, Lean, or other process improvement training
  • Certification or training in HACCP, USDA/FDA regulations, CPIM, and/or SQF
  • Extensive knowledge of produce or other perishable food products
  • ERP experience – utilization, configuration, reporting and  analytics
  • Experience with transportation scheduling and routing, and DOT regulatory issues
