JOB FILLED - Quality Assurance

Job Description: 

The Quality Assurance associate will work as part of the Military Produce Group Savannah team and be responsible for the Inspection of all inbound, and in house produce to ensure quality as it relates to acceptable temperatures, product conditions, product quality, and product sizing per USDA and/or Company imposed specifications.

Requirements: 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience as a USDA inspector is preferred
  • Minimum Two years’ experience in a produce related position preferred
  • Must be motivated, detail-oriented self-starter and willing to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong desire to learn, develop, and grow within the organization
  • Knowledge of computers & software helpful; Microsoft suite of applications Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point a plus.
  • Must have open availability
  • Must be able to work in a cooler environment and temperature
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to change
  • Ability to lift product weighing up to 60 lbs.
  • Pallet Jack experience preferred
  • Must be able to perform essential duties and responsibilities efficiently, accurately and safely, with or without reasonable accommodation and without creating threat or harm
  • Must comply with all company policies and procedures, as well as, state, federal and safety regulations
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Product inspection and reporting of quality findings on inbound, in house, and outbound produce
  • Communicate with the QA supervisor and buyer all positive or negative information on all products received
  • Check quality of existing perishables in stock including daily inspection of product in pick location for quality, condition, and shelf life
  • Remove product that does not meet Company standards (quality, condition, shelf life)
  • Communicate with QA supervisor and buyer about products to determine what action will be taken
  • Adjust inventory to correctly represent product removed from slots and for what reason
  • Take charge of sorting out of grade product for suitable resale
  • Watch for proper product rotation in pick slots
  • Alert buyer for product that is slow or not moving in a timely period
  • Check and approve all code dated product(s) as to their expiration date
  • Inspect product returned to warehouse facility
  • Determine the quality, condition, and acceptable shelf life of the product
  • Determine what is good, what is storable, and what needs to be disposed of
  • Of those items that have a definite quality problem, check existing product slot to determine status of existing inventory
  • Notify buyer of any ongoing pattern of either bad product or apparent customer abuse
  • Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) Procedures
  • Collecting and reporting temperature and other HACCP information from refrigerated areas to the Compliance Manager
  • Reporting any problem that would break down the integrity of the HACCP Program to the Compliance Manager
