JOB FILLED - Manager, Commodity Services

Job Description: 

This position will be responsible for the operation and administration of commodity-specific marketing exchanges under FFVA management. Additionally, the position will provide direct support for interactions with the fruit and vegetable industry supply chain. These interactions would include relationship building with providers of production inputs, marketing and technical support, advertising, and purchasers of member-produced commodities. The manager will be responsible for advocacy and educational efforts in support of these relationships. This position will also provide coordination and support for FFVA’s Supply Chain Management Committee.

Requirements: 
  • This management-level position requires a demonstrated ability to function in a unique, complex business environment.
  • A minimum of a BS/BA in a business or agricultural-related field is required with a minimum of three years’ experience in agricultural business management or related field.
  • A working knowledge of horticultural production, packaging, marketing, and transportation aspects of the business environment.
  • Able to work in a multitasking environment with strict attention to detail.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently with a diverse and highly successful group of individuals.
  • Proven ability to manage or oversee an organization.
Responsibilities & Duties: 
Commodity Exchanges
  • Administration and operational oversight of the following grower Exchanges:
    • Sunshine Sweet Corn Farmers of Florida
    • Florida Vegetable Exchange
    • Others as they are organized and endorsed
  • Develop, maintain, and archive such records as necessary to accomplish compliance with the restraints under the Capper-Volstead for the exchanges.
  • Prepare and maintain normal business correspondence, records, and other information to ensure efficient and effective operation of the exchanges.
  • Collect and maintain the cropping information in a manner to ensure confidentially and protection of the individual exchange member’s business information.
  • Provide support for marketing activities of the exchanges as directed by the exchange leadership.
  • Provide a collective conduit for collection and distribution of reliable and creditable commodity specific information.

Supply Chain

  • Develop and provide support for all aspects of commercial interactions between FFVA members and the supply chain.
  • Develop a comprehensive knowledge of the regulations governing agricultural trade and serve as an advocate on behalf of producers and the supply chain.
  • Serve as the coordination point for the association in developing positions on issues that cut across the supply chain.
  • Serve as an advocate to ensure communication of common concerns at the state, national and global supply chain level.
