We are searching for a dynamic Merchandising and Procurement Manager to join our growing team. This is a hybrid role combining merchandising and produce procurement. The Merchandising and Procurement Manager will assist merchandisers in four current pack centers in selecting the produce and non-produce items that go into our customers’ weekly boxes and ensures we are providing the best options at a price point that meets our cost targets. This person will also support the Procurement Team with sourcing from growers. The ideal candidate is versatile, able to adapt based on the needs of the business, and eager to collaborate.
- Use forecasting tools to understand weekly demand and assist in placing orders for items in our subscription boxes
- Collaborate with Merchandisers in each market to place local buys as needed
- Engage with a variety of vendors to assess the feasibility of sourcing new items
- Partner with Merchandisers to identify new items for consideration and contribute ideas for effectively merchandising items that are offered to us
- Work with Procurement to source new items as needed
- Meet and exceed pricing targets for each item, beating grocery stores by 30% while hitting profit margin targets
- Research online grocery prices weekly
- Meet and exceed produce cost targets for our boxes while providing ample variety to increase revenue per box
- Assist Procurement Team with sourcing from growers, completing availability list for Merchandisers, resolve load issues with growers, and submit purchase orders
- Partner with Purchasing Manager to resolve quality issues with growers
- Analyze sales data, pricing, and margins for all divisions to assist with predictively purchasing to meet demand
- Mine data, in partnership with our marketing data analyst, to analyze sales history and forecast future demand
- Take on key Supply Team projects as needed such as investigating and improving shortages and gaining insight on yield from quantity purchased to orders fulfilled
- Self-starter who’s comfortable in a flat organization with vast opportunities for growth

- Passionate about our mission to fight food waste
- 5 -10 years’ experience in the produce or food industry
- Experienced in merchandising, category management, sales, and/or procurement
- Experience with ERP systems and report generation and analysis
- Proficient with 10-key and Microsoft Excel
- Experience using Google Suite, SLACK, and other messaging platforms
BONUS: Versed in edible plant families, seasonality/growing conditions, and produce supply chain

- This position reports to the VP of Supply located in San Francisco (Bayview)
- Full-time exempt position
- Daily working hours are from 7am to about 4pm
- Evening, weekend, and holiday work required on an as needed basis
- Domestic travel required as needed to local pack centers
