JOB FILLED - Marketing Associate

Job Description: 

The position of Marketing Associate was created for the purpose(s) of assisting key stakeholders and team members in all retail marketing efforts.  The Marketing Associate’s responsibilities include but are not limited to tradeshow planning and execution, implementing marketing programs for both domestic and export accounts, creating and updating customer reference, point of sale and other marketing materials, managing and reconciling budgets, and managing the activities of a marketing coordinator.

  • Moderate Carrying – must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Able to stand; walk short distances; pull and/or push; grasp; reach; bend; stoop; kneel; crouch.
  • Must be able to travel by automobile, rail and air; overnight travel.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Assist in the planning and execution of all aspects of three national trade shows, including booth layout, logistics, fruit and packaging needs and on-site management of exhibits. Must be able to travel for a week at a time in the US and Canada, including evenings and weekends.
  • Implement account specific retail promotions, including electronic and on-pack coupons, in-store sampling, secondary display units, point of sale material, and retailer-driven initiatives.
  • Build, manage and perform monthly reconciliation of marketing budgets and assist the manager and Finance with department budget as needed.
  • Direct the activities of creative agencies, printers and other vendors to complete all marketing projects accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Manage and delegate/determine the day-to-day activities of the marketing coordinator.
  • Create and effectively manage relationships with marketing personnel, sales managers, finance and accounting, legal and other stakeholders within the organization and our partner companies, to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Organize and track all promotions through development and maintenance of a retail marketing activity log and analytics file on a weekly basis.
  • Collaborate with manager and director on best in class approach to point of sale material creation and photography needs to bring vision to life consistently throughout the portfolio.
  • Prepare marketing summaries in PowerPoint for internal stakeholders such as the board of directors and growers/packing houses.
  • Attend industry events as directed, representing Sunkist in a professional and knowledgeable manner.
  • Meet professional obligations through regular and timely attendance, and efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources and meetings in an effective, accurate and timely manner.

Other Duties

  • Performs other related duties and projects as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
  • Maintains a neat work area; professional appearance and personal conduct at all times.
  • Attends meetings as requested.
  • Occasional travel; may be up to 15% annually.
Qualifications: 

Miniumum

  • Bachelor's Degree in marketing or related field.
  • Two to Five years’ experience in a marketing function or with a marketing agency, retail promotion experience preferred.
  • Understanding of Agriculture and or brand business preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook; understanding of databases and ability to create pivot tables a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills; creative thinking, analytic and problem solving capabilities; ability to express ideas professionally; passionate about the work, possesses a positive attitude.
  • Strong willingness to handle complexity and learn a broad variety of skills and job functions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with others, internally and externally.
  • The ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within parameter of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Relentless attention to detail and accuracy a must.
  • Strong writing and proofreading skills.
  • Data management and analysis experience a plus.
  • Must possess a positive approach to collaboration and a willingness to learn the details of all aspects of Sunkist and Marketing.

Working Conditions

  • Office environment subject to continuous interruptions and background noises.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
  • Work may include extended periods of time viewing a computer monitor and or operating a keyboard.
  • Will travel occasionally to offsite venues including packinghouses, trade shows, agencies and vendors.
  • Must work in office Monday – Friday.  A regular telework schedule will not be considered.  Special projects may call for occasional evening and/or weekend hours.
