Job Filled Outside Sales Representative

Job Description: 

The Outside Sales Representative provides extraordinary customer service to assigned accounts. He/she maintains and increases sales of a given account base and brings in new accounts. Position also includes data analysis, category management and overall assistance to retailers in maximizing sales volume, store distribution and gross profit.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Answer questions and provide information to customers in person, by telephone, e-mail or by fax in response to inquiries regarding product, prices and delivery dates.
  • Listen to, investigate and resolve customers’ complaints about products, price or service.
  • Receive and examine defective product returned by customers and determine, with supervisor’s approval, if credits should be granted based on company procedures.
  • Maintain a working knowledge on the products the customers carry.
  • Identify potential new accounts that are beneficial and profitable to the company.
  • Call on potential new account decision-makers and present benefits/features of a General Produce relationship.
  • Perform necessary administrative duties to establish new accounts, i.e. credit approval, complete proper forms and notify appropriate departments.
  • Regularly follow up with potential new accounts to establish relationships.
  • Advise customers of appropriate product for a given need based on knowledge of the product.
  • Recommend similar, companion or substitute product.
  • Participate with Buying and Sales Departments in developing new items and special requests
  • Excellent sales and customer service skills.
  • Effective written and oral communications skills with the ability to motivate and influence others either verbally or in writing.
  • Ability to analyze and understand data.
  • Proficient in Windows-based computer applications.
  • Knowledge of the Northern California retail produce market.Maintain a valid California Driver License with one point or less on DMV record.
  • Ability to perform essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
