Job Description: 
Pacific Coast Fruit Company is a local, family owned produce distributor that has proudly served our Pacific Northwest retail, wholesale and food service customers since 1977. We are now one of the largest independent produce distributors in the Northwest with distribution centers in Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington. We take pride in being a consistent, reliable solution for our customers.  Consistently profitable with a talented and stable leadership team, our company is seeking an energetic and motivated Wholesale Sales Support Representative in Portland, Oregon.
 
This position is responsible for assisting sales representatives in providing excellent service to new and existing customers. The Sales Support Representative must have initiative and a strong ability to prioritize.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Assist sales representatives with administrative and sales activities by studying needs, preferences, and buying patterns of customers, and Increase sales suggesting products
  • Will perform some selling functions—upselling, and selling additional products on orders
  • Will participate in blitz selling-helping move large volume of products by phone selling.
  • Submit orders by referring to price and product lists
  • Introduce  new and seasonal products and promote all products
  • Overcome objections by emphasizing product and value
  • Partner with others to successfully execute programs and projects
  • Present new and creative ideas to streamline processes and execute more effectively.
  • Work with other departments to assure availability, quality and delivery of products sold through wholesale sales.
  • Assist with sales of clearance product.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot customer issues and demonstrate a sense of urgency by providing efficient and timely responses to requests
  • Continually work to improve industry knowledge

What we look for:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Ability to speak, read and write in English. Bilingual – English/Spanish a plus
  • Be organized and detail oriented and show ability to handle multiple, simultaneous projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to demonstrate understanding of produce, including seasonality, source, quality, and handling
  • Ability to keep current on all the latest information and industry trends
  • Pleasant and efficient phone manner, ability to build rapport over the phone
  • Position requires a computer literate individual with an aptitude for Windows applications and the ability to pick up new tasks quickly
  • Good availability, including weekends and holidays  
  • HS diploma or GED required. College degree preferred
  • 2 years prior sales and/or customer service experience, preferably in food service, wholesale or retail environment        
  • Experience negotiating pricing a plus
