Job Description:
The Chief Financial Officer will provide leadership and coordination of company financial information, capital budgeting, debt financing, budget management function, and all financial related activities in the business.

Bachelors degree in Accounting with a strong finance background

Ability to communicate and interact with vendors and the management team

Knowledge of accounting software

Strong knowledge and abilities with Microsoft Office

Excellent knowledge of financial accounting principles and concepts

Strong knowledge of budgeting and cash flow forecasting techniques, financial statement analysis, and financial controls

Professional verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills

Unquestionable willingness to keep office files, financial information, and other company related information confidential

Responsibilities & Duties:
Primary:
-
Produce monthly financial statements for the businesses including income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow projections on a timely basis (i.e. within 15 days of end of the month)

Manage or perform all activities related to financial accounting such as: invoicing; refunds; inventory evaluation; payroll and payroll taxes; management and payment of suppliers; assistance in the ongoing monitoring and management of banking relationships, including bank lines of credit; cash flow analysis and the management of short and long term debts; performing bank and other key reconciliations, supervising general banking duties; preparation of annual budgets; and preparation of cash flow forecasts on a monthly basis

Proactive analysis of the monthly financial statements for the businesses including: analysis of key financial performance indicators and trends, including financial ratios; comparison of actual results to budget with suggestions of corrective actions

Develop and execute a credit extension policy for customers. Secure liens, collect past due account receivables and other accounts

Manage or perform fixed asset inventories, depreciation schedules, and fixed asset values

Prepare the annual financial statements for the businesses (cash and accrual), including working paper support, for review by outside financial advisors, lenders, and CPA. Includes, but not limited to:

Annual tax management planning
-
Preparation of annual financial ratio review

Developing and monitoring of growth model (Financial Scorecard)

Actual to budget analysis
-

Coordinate closely with the CPA in preparation of detailed financial statements and year end closing procedures

Manage or perform all tax reporting and payments such as quarterly payroll taxes and fuel taxes
-
Prepare financial analysis for capital budgeting scenarios such as: Payback Period; Internal Rate of Return; Net Present Value; and Lease vs. Purchase

Prepare and refine the annual budget
-
Provide crop projections and acres to the agronomist and fertilizer company
-
Forecast variable, fixed, and employee expenses for the upcoming year
-
Make schedules of land rent and debt payments
-

Keep detailed crop records for each field
-
Record plant dates, fertilizer/chemical records, seed usage, yields, etc. for each field
-
Prepare spreadsheets of crop quality (where applicable)
-
Be prepared to develop and report required data to the FSA and other USDA agencies.

Prepare all needed and required information that may be required by any regulatory agency or other entity (customer, etc.)

Prepare year end income statements broken down by enterprise
-
See that all necessary invoices are entered into field file
-
Oversee crop classification in accounting system

Break down workers time by crop (where possible)

Establish, implement and monitor financial controls to include fraud and embezzlement controls and cash receipts management

Assistance with companies’ insurance programs
- Manage or perform cost accounting for all cost centers
- Manage the maintenance of office equipment – computers, printers, fax, copier, telephones, employee time entry system, etc.
- Management oversight of secretary and accounting clerk

Secondary:

Prepare all needful information and records for annual GAP audit

Evaluate strategic impact of different revenue streams, firm expansion, mergers and acquisitions, corporate development activities, and vendor relationships

Prepare financial trend analysis on other entities owned by family as required

Maintain an effective information filing system for document filing and retrieval
-
Assistance with special projects, preparation of financial aspects of new business opportunities and ventures

Periodically provide support and management of production related activities
-
Interview job applicants and help the partners hire new employees
