JOB FILLED - Sr. Plant Engineer

Job Description: 
The Sr. Plant Engineer will manage staff and the technical requirements of the plant and related processes/equipment and to significantly improve plant performance and reliability through the management and coordination of all engineering and capital equipment activities for the organization.

Requirements: 
  • Requires an expert understanding (10 to 15 years) of maintenance and engineering processes and strategies.
  • Requires knowledge and understanding of designing systems, processes and equipment that meets all safety standards and environmental compliance for a top tier site.
  • Will possess an electrical, industrial or mechanical engineering degree (or a minimum of 8 years experience) in a process, technical or engineering discipline.
  • Will be able to demonstrate previous success in introducing large scale capital projects, total predictive maintenance techniques into industrial/manufacturing organizations.
  • Will be familiar with computerized maintenance management systems, and possess a knowledge of PLC systems, 480V 3ph motors and power systems, low voltage control systems, dataloggers, and instrumentation tie in and calibration.
  • Will ideally be a professionally chartered engineer, with significant experience in risk-based maintenance engineering and man-management.
  • Will ideally have working knowledge of proper piping system design, fluid mechanics in pumping/piping systems, equipment to product material compatibility, machine design, conveying systems, gearing systems, boiler systems and steam supply and regulation lines, facility design and layout, local code and permitting processes.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing systems, the Toyota Production System and has led formal kaizen, continuous improvement events & initiatives.
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Adheres to the Quality Policy, including all items assigned to this position in accordance with safety policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Assures that all work assigned to the position is performed in accordance with specifications, instructions and requirements.
  • Demonstrates ability to meet production standards on specific assignments within a reasonable time, depending on the degree of difficulty of the job functions.
  • Assures that all products are processed to the highest standard of quality.
  • Works with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Wears required Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Maintains clean environment and enforces safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Interprets specifications, job orders, and company policies and procedures for workers.
  • Provide overall engineering leadership to the plant and manage staff & hourly team members associated with capital projects and engineering activities.
  • Manage, coordinate and control all aspects of engineering in order to meet agreed plant objectives.
  • Develop the total productive maintenance strategy for the organization in conjunction with the maintenance manager.
  • Develop and implement all capital activities. Ensure timely & cost effective completion for all capital projects and effectively manage all allocated internal & external (contractors) resources for the safe & timely completion of the capital projects.
  • Ensure Health & Safety and Environmental standards and targets are met and maintained within the scope of engineering responsibilities.
  • Identify areas for engineering and financial improvement and enable their inception while maintaining an appropriate level of availability and reliability of equipment.
  • Ensure the safe and effective introduction of new equipment, capital expenditure and process improvement technologies.
  • Determine training requirements and ensure adequate training plans for all new equipment and process improvements.
  • Prepare and manage engineering budgets, forecasts and plans.
  • Provide technical support to plant personnel as needed to achieve company goals.
Skills: 
  • Ability to effectively lead a project team for the successful implementation of the capital projects and other continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience with lean manufacturing systems is desirable.
  • Be a responsible leader as a member of the management team for the effective utilization of all mechanical & electrical equipment, instruments, chemicals in the plant, material handling and contract services.
  • Identifying complex problem and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • The ability to choose the right mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problem.
  • Excellent Time management skills.
  • Talking to others to convey information effectively.
