Job Description: 
Responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing all transportation functions to ensure that customer service is performed safely, on-time, and in accordance with specifications/ coordinates closely with customers and area personnel to obtain information, identify needs, and investigate and resolve problems. Seeks to continuously improve service. Ensures that Company’s professional reputation is maintained, and that superior customer service is provided. Schedules, assigns, supervises, and appraises personnel.

Requirements: 
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Safety, security, and vehicle operations training.
  • Understanding of client requirements and schedules.
  • Knowledge of transportation equipment and vehicle operations.
  • At least one year of administrative experience.

Responsibilities & Duties: 

Assumes responsibility for assisting in the development and implementation of effective transportation planning, policies, and procedures.

  • Develops and recommends with long and short run planning.
  • Executes established goals and ensures that transportation policies support and complement company strategies, mission, vision, and values.
  • Assists in developing and implementing operation plans, policies, and goals which further strategic objectives.
  • Continually evaluates established policies and procedures and updates or modifies them as needed.

Assumes responsibility for effective and timely performance of transportation functions:

  • Ensures excellent, professional communications are maintained with customers and drivers. Ensures that all customer’ expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Interprets and distributes client messages to employees. Prepares schedules and ensures that client information is correct.
  • Ensures that transportation functions are completed in accordance with company policies and procedures and client standards. Perform periodic checks. Ensures on-time delivery of products and services.
  • Identifies, researches, and permanently resolves transportation and customer service problems.

Assumes responsibility for ensuring that transportation operations meet or exceed safety and regulatory standards:

  • Regularly checks equipment for proper operation. Performs preventative maintenance and ensures that repairs are completed as needed. Updates client equipment information.
  • Schedules transportation activities to eliminate rushing and promote safety.
  • Ensures that personnel understand and implement safely and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Conducts regular inspections. Ensures that all work areas are clean, secure, and well-maintained.

Assumes responsibility for effectively schedules, supervises, and directs transportation personnel, ensuring excellent customer service and optimal performance.

  • Provides leadership through effective objective setting, delegation, and communication. Maintains a good information flow. Ensures personnel are timely and thoroughly informed. Conducts meetings to inform, train, and seek solutions for identified problems. Ensures employees understand company policies and procedures and the importance of customer service.
  • Directs, schedules, and coordinates employees. Identifies and tracks staffing needs and ensures that they are met. Reviews attendance logs and timesheets. Maintains leave records. Monitoes and controls overtime.
  • Promotes teamwork. Encourages employee involvement, suggestions, and problem solving.
  • Provides feedback and suggestionsto improve employee performance. Formulates and implements corrective actions as needed and ensures that all employees are treated fairly and consistently. Corrects employees employee problems promptly.

Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication, coordination, and working relationships with company personnel and with management.
 
Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.

Performance Measurements

  • Superior customer service is consistently provided. Customers’ expectations are met or exceeded. Deliveries are on time and meet established standards. Problems are promptly, courteously, and permanently resolved. The company’s professional reputation is maintained and projected.
  • Transpiration functions are completed in accordance with established policies, procedures, and safety and regulatory standards.   
  • Personnel are effective, efficient, optimally utilized, and appropriately informed. Employees understand the importance of their roles and seek to continually improve.
  • Costs are monitored and controlled. Suggestions for improved productivity and services are provided.
  • Good coordination and working relations exist with related departments and units. Assistance is provided as needed.
  • Management is appropriately informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
Education: 
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. High school graduate or equivalent. At least 2 years of Management experience.
