Job Description:
Terry Farms, Inc. is a family farming organization growing approximately 2,000 acres of row crops in Ventura County, California.
The Terry family has been farming in Ventura County for over 120 years ever since Joe Terry left Portugal and came to California to farm in 1890.
Terry Farms is now run by Edgar Terry (Joe’s great grandson), and Edgar’s son William.
Reporting directly to our COO, we’re looking for a General Farm Mechanic to join our family in our Oxnard, CA location.

Requirements:
- 3-5 years of Farm Mechanic experience in the Ag industry.
- Must be proficient with all types of welding equipment, power, and hand tools
- Able to work independently, including determining and implementing appropriate repairs to all farm equipment.
- Must be bilingual (English & Spanish), punctual, and honest.
- Must have a valid drivers license
- The ‘General Farm Mechanic’ must be capable of coming up with solutions to problems on the fly without blueprints and must be capable of working with little to no supervision.

Hours and Workdays:
The days and hours for this position will vary and be based on Wage Order 14. The expected normal work week is between 40-50 hours. The hours are subject to change depending on the weather/season.
Responsibilities & Duties:

Uphold the Company’s safety commitment & requirements

Fabrication of farm implements

Perform repairs with limited departmental supervision

Fix tractors and other farming implements & machinery
-
Determine overall condition of machines through inspections and provide maintenance

Diagnose issues with hydraulic and electrical systems
-
Restore equipment to working order through component replacement and/or repair

Exhibit positive and effective communication and interaction with other associates, vendors, and customers

Work inside the company shop located in Oxnard and on various company farms within Ventura County as necessary

Work overtime as required by workload and customer need

Operate vehicles, heavy equipment, implements, & misc. machinery safely between work areas

Follow directions as given; follow company policies and procedures

Participate in safety and/or educational training as required

Perform work area and equipment safety inspections

Fill out company paperwork regarding repairs and inspections

Keep a clean workspace
