JOB FILLED - Engineering/Maintenance Manager

Job Description: 

Plans, maintains, coordinates and manages all mechanical and electrical systems within the facility.  This Manager also drives maintenance, communications, energy management, and departmental manpower development programs.  Position will work closely with the Regional GM, Technical Services Director, General Manager and staff, and the Regional Project Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Supports company operations by repairing and maintaining structures, equipment, roads, grounds and drives necessary construction or installation activities.
  • Manages maintenance department staff, including hiring, training, motivating, assigning/prioritizing projects, and personnel development. 
  • Assists in annual operating budget and capital budget planning and monitors expenditures to assure a realistic cost of engineering and maintenance activities.
  • Manages the operations and maintenance issues including troubleshooting and problem solving as required.
  • Recommends/implements improvements for preventive maintenance programs on an on-going basis.
  • Develops/maintains effective building-specific maintenance and safety procedure manuals.
  • Coordinates maintenance efforts with outside contractors and technicians.
  • Oversees all building systems including fire/life safety, plumbing, HVAC and electrical issues and must remain current with latest HVAC technology trends.
  • Maintains on-going communication with facility management team, executive team and vendors.
  • Assists in solicitation and acquisition of new management contracts and coordinate development of and/or maintain as-built drawings.
  • Responds to emergency situations (fire, evacuation, equipment failure etc.) and customer concerns.
  • Develops specifications and assists in solicitation and administration of maintenance/repair service contracts.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable codes, requisitions, government agencies and company directives as it relates to building operations.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Occasional travel to sister facilities and vendors may be required.
  •  Has shared responsibility with the Management Team for governmental compliance in environmental, weights,  and  measures, FDA, OSHA, and fuel and energy usage. 
  • Responsible for price negotiations for materials, supplies and construction projects.
  • Responsible for supporting Regional Project Manager in planning and enacting capital projects involving new equipment and expansion of structures.
  • Be knowledgeable of and comply with all human safety, food safety, and regulatory guidelines
  • Participates in Central Safety Committee.
  • Any additional duties as directed by General Manager. 
  • Maintenance department staff, including but not limited to: Supervisors, Lead personnel, maintenance technicians, maintenance specialists, and mechanics.
  • In addition to managing current direct reports; this position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management within that department.
  • Responsible for interviewing, selecting and training direct reports.
  • Is responsible for reviewing performance and administers corrective action.
  • Plans the work schedules, assigns duties, tracks absenteeism and reviews work to ensure quality standards.
  • Responsible for monitoring work for legal or regulatory compliance.
  • Observes and practices safety and housekeeping procedures at all times.

Education: 
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in technical field, preferably chemical, electrical, or mechanical engineering. 
  • In lieu of the preferred degree, 5-10 years management experience may be considered.
  • Five to ten years minimum experience required in maintenance/supervisory position, managing 10+ employees including budgetary responsibility and personnel administration.
  • Certification / license in two or more of the following is desired: Universal CFC certification., and certain certifications may be required by local / state jurisdiction: electrical, mechanical, HVAC and refrigeration systems, boiler, plumbing.
  • Experience with food packaging, instrumentation and controls, HVAC, hydraulics, electrical distribution, mobile equipment, facilities management and large central plants.
  • Must have good computer skills including word processing, spread sheets, data analysis, PLCs and CAD 
  • Two – three years of experience in mushroom industry, food manufacturing, or a similar fast-paced production environment.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Multiple facility environments experience.
  • Facilities Management certification.
