Job Description: 

Inventory Maintenance I coworkers are part of the Quality Assurance team, ensuring the product being distributed from OGC facilities meets quality standards implemented by OGC and our customers. They are responsible for inspecting produce inventory on a consistent and regular basis and communicating proactively with other departments to ensure customer needs are fulfilled.

Requirements: 
  • This position requires the ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular and consistent basis.
  • Must be able to work in a cold and damp environment for extended periods of time. Work environment may include exposure to: dust, ice, dirt, noise, and vibration. In addition, repetitive motion, mainly of the shoulder, back, wrist and hands, may be required in this position. Standing, stooping, bending required.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Creates and manages production orders (repacks) in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to support specific customer needs, quality sorts, or pack transfers.
  • Performs initial inbound quality inspections and communicates findings cross departmentally as needed. This includes support of the small fruit packing line (SFPL) quality assurance.
  • Inspects and processes customer returns, assesses quality, and returns what can be sold into inventory.
  • Inspects in-house inventory quality and updates the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and ERP with changes.
  • Organizes reusable plastic containers (RPCs) in compliance with GMP requirements.
  • Maintains GMP and GFSI standards; including complying with personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hair/beard nets, gloves, steel-toed boots, etc as well as personal hygiene standards.
  • Determines product appropriate for community food program donations and coordinates shipment of product through those food program vendors.
  • Works cross departmentally to ensure customer product requirements and needs are communicated to the appropriate parties within the production, sales and buying departments.
  • Provides internal Quality Assurance services to the Sales, Buying, and Operations teams.
  • Participates in Continuous Improvement (CI) process as requested to resolve problems and improve product and service quality.
  • Stocks the employee produce store, reconcile inventory, and quantify losses. This includes all facilities employee store purchases.
  • Assists with grower services program including printing stickers, labels and other tasks as needed.
  • Collects, stores, and ensures proper disposal/recycling of inbound temperature recorders. Downloads the data and shares with the commodity buyer to facilitate vendor credit process.
  • Exemplifies OGC’s 5 Core attitudes and behaviors and looks to the best interest of the company protecting company assets.
  • Must be flexible and agile to support OGC business needs and mission, and may be assigned projects and/or other duties outside of normal job functions to meet the needs and demands of the business.
Education: 
  • High School Diploma required; Four-year college degree preferred.
  • One to three (1-3) years of related work experience with produce quality assurance and/or produce varieties.
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), preferably Priya, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, preferably Produce Pro.
Skills: 
  • Knowledge of organic produce varieties and organic farming practices.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to operate computers efficiently; knowledge of basic programs including Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be self-driven and able to work independently. Timely with meeting work commitments.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn the OGC product lines, post-harvest handling, seasonal dynamics, etc.
  • Able to safely drive warehouse equipment, such as forklift, rider jacks, etc., or have the ability to learn safe equipment operating skills.
  • Knowledge of safe warehouse operating practices and procedures.
  • Ability to work cohesively in a team environment; able to switch tasks quickly and efficiently as needed.
  • High attention to detail and ability to focus for extended periods of time.
  • Knowledge of sustainable business practices preferred.
