We recently opened a brand new facility in Jonestown, PA which will have 635 employees. We are looking for a Unit Business Manager to take charge of all operations at this location.

Primary Function:
The Unit Business Manager has sole ownership and responsibility for the success of his/her designated portion of the business which is referred to as a Unit; including coaching, developing, safety, customer service, product utilization, cost control, team development, staffing planning, personnel management and training, and compliance and regulatory control. This role is responsible for the planning, execution and analysis of production unit goals and objectives.

Requirements: 
  • Must pass Drug Test and Background Check
  • 4- year college degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3-5 years hands-on experience in a production environment
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task
  • A proven track record of managing large groups of employees as an active floor manager
  • Proficiency in use of English language with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally, present information and direction, and field questions from managers, employees and external contacts
  • Proficient in computer-use skills (MS Office: Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Willingness to work independently, with minimal supervision and take ownership of job
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  •  Oversees all activities within the Production unit, including but not limited to: Hiring, promotion recommendations and disciplinary actions; Production area policy creation and implementation; Analysis of production metrics; Management of large scale operations projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Sets and enforces specific performance expectations of Quality, Cost, Organization, and Commitment to the production management team.
  • The Unit Business Manager will initiate the CIC allocations the first (4) hrs of the shift. Ultimately, will be responsible for ensuring the CIC allocations are being followed and the Unit Leader’s collaborating with CIC to meet business needs and customer standards.
  • Provides training and guidance to Unit Leaders on customer specs, packing production processes, and health\food safety policies.
  • Oversees and advises on quality inspection activities within the department.
  • Maintains effective communication and teamwork between departments (Shipping, Receiving) to get orders out on time and at the lowest cost.
  • Plans, requests and monitors packaging supply inventory and ensure availability to meet daily production requirements.
  • Provides regular production reports daily, weekly and monthly, with recommendations on how to improve production metrics and efficiencies.
  • Facilitate a weekly meeting with the Unit Admin team to discuss issues and highlight concerns, responsible for communicating any changes in company policy and procedure.

  • Hold Unit Leader responsible for:
    • Monitoring status of daily order requirements, and ensuring order completion to meet ready time within customer specifications.
    • Enforcing proper packing procedures to meet product specs, costs and organization.
    • Maintaining accurate grade-out and recording procedures.
    • Maintaining a clean and organized department at all times.
    • Maintaining all departments’ activities to meet Health and Food Safety policies.
    • Overseeing all skid stacking quality, including the proper use of corner boards
    • Motivating, organizing and encouraging teamwork within the Production Unit.
Education: 
  • Bachelors or better in Supply Chain Management or related field
Ideal Candidate: 
  • Experience in the perishable goods industry preferred
  • Working knowledge of a second language, bilingual preferred
  • Strong knowledge of local, state and federal laws and requirements to maintain compliance to all relevant statues and guiding principles (FDA, USDA, MIOSHA, OSHA, CFIA)
  • A high degree of professionalism and personal integrity
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills. Need to be creative, adaptable and able to accurately handle out-of-the-ordinary issues with a sense of urgency
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including extended workdays on different shifts
