Job Description:
Our Business is Growing! Smith Gardens has an exciting opportunity for an Irrigation Lead to join our team at our Bellingham, WA Site.
In this role you will be responsible for managing fertility, irrigation and some other cultural requirements of crops under direction and supervision of the Section Grower. You will be working in a dynamic team oriented environment. You will also need to fill in for the Section Grower when necessary.

Responsibilities & Duties:
- Assess crops daily and make irrigation decisions based on cultural information and strategy and as directed by the Section Grower.
- Apply growth regulators with Section Grower approval.
- Lead, coach, and train irrigation staff.
- Scout crops daily for pest and disease and apply fungicides and insecticides as needed.
Skills:
- Can lead and manage irrigators.
- Ability to prioritize and manage water resources.
- Ability to identify some common pests and diseases.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and in writing, in person and via phone or radio with all levels of staff.

Qualifications:
- Previous agricultural experience a plus.
- Must have basic English skills, Bilingual (Spanish) preferred, both verbal and written.
Physical Requirements:
- Work long hours as needed during busy season, including weekends.
- Continuously walk, stand, bend, kneel, as well as reaching overhead, and from side to side for long periods of time.
- Work indoors and outdoors, in seasonal temperatures and conditions.
- Lift and move irrigation equipment that weighs up to 40 pounds in an environment that is often hot.
