Job Description: 

The role of the Logistics Human Resources Manager is to provide Human Resources expertise and leadership to Logistics across multiple US distribution centers supporting all logistics employees. This position is a key member of the Logistics Leadership Team with responsibilities that include providing counsel and guidance on all matters related to Human Resources, Employment Law, and Compliance, aligning Human Resources strategies with business and customer needs, and fostering an environment consistent with MMI proactive employee relations philosophy, code of conduct, vision and values. The Logistics HR Manager plays a critical role in the identification and acquisition of external talent as well as in the development and succession planning of internal talent. This role is responsible for providing strategic and tactical HR management.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Works at the corporate office; general office environment, however this position is required to interact with the HR Team/Hiring Managers at the farm locations, thus occasionally may be exposed to extreme cold or heat and outdoor weather conditions.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Serves primary point of contact for all Human Resources matters for logistics, including Staffing, Employee Relations, Leaves of Absence, Workers Compensation, Employment Law, Compensation and Benefits.
  • Manages progressive disciplinary system for all business units including terminations. Ensures consistency with policies at all locations.
  • Conducts comprehensive employee relations investigations when necessary. Provides summation of facts to management team and makes recommendations on appropriate course of action.
  • Develop and execute talent acquisition, recruitment processes and retention strategies working with logistics management.
  • Coaches, assesses training needs, motivate and develop management team to maximize performance.
  • Conducts new employee orientations; employee relations counseling and exit interviews.
  • Partnering with DOT Compliance Manager, actively participates in Safety Committee and other Safety events.
  • Responsible for the compliance of all federal, state and local employment regulations/laws.
  • Plan, organize and control activities of the Human Resources Department.
  • Monitors performance evaluation program.
  • On-boarding (Responsible for new hire on-boarding) benefit enrollment, maintain personnel files.
  • Planning and Organizing – Engages in short and long-term planning, sets priorities to optimize time usage, adheres to schedules and plans.

Education: 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Three to Five years Distribution Center Human Resources Generalist / Business Partner experience; prior HR management experience.
Skills: 
  • Ability to lead and influence others.
  • Ability to work more than 40 hours per week, based on business needs.
  • Ability to travel between facilities as required (Logistics meetings or for other special projects).
Ideal Candidate: 
  • Human Resources certification for California.
  • Strong proactive Employee Relations experience.
  • Excellent verbal / written communication skills, with an ability to communicate to a variety of audiences.
  • Working knowledge of all HR practice areas and employment law as well as best practices for compliance.
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office and HR systems with Oracle JDE HCM experience a plus.
