Job Description: 

The Farm Manager will assist existing Farm management with field research and recommendations in plant and soil fertility, irrigation, pest management and new technologies that can bring value and improvement to the farm operations. This may include the collection of soil, plant, and water samples, pest counts, and yield measurements.

Requirements:

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Manage and prioritize all farm personnel activities and work load, including constant.
  • Supervision of team leaders.
  • Manage and control all farm expenses to maximize farm profitability.
  • Insure Quality Control to meet the quality demands of our customers.
  • Ensure that Organic System Plans and methods are in compliance with the USDA.
  • National. Organic Program (NOP), and international standards.
  • Develop the most efficient systems for planting, cultivating and harvesting.
  • Develop methods to control weeds and pests to keep crops disease-free.
  • Develop and execute pest management strategies.
  • Work with and cultivate existing relationships with state universities.
  • Coordinate on-farm research work.
  • Inspect crops for pests and diseases.
  • Maintain 3rd party food safety inspection documents for annual inspections.
  • Report directly to executive management.
Education: 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Science or related field of study a plus but not required.
Skills: 
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Familiar with farm machinery (small tractor, irrigation, water pumps, etc.)
  • Ability to formulate various plans and possess the fortitude to carry out those plans.
  • Ability to create and review various required and requested reports, summarize and come.
  • up with action plans to management.
  • Ability to manage and keep current all required organic reporting.
  • Must have the ability to multi-task.
Qualifications: 
  • Experience in commercial conventional and organic fruit and vegetable production.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Familiar with germination of seeds and greenhouse procedures.
  • Knowledgeable of best farming practices with hands on farming experience.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of previous related work experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of soil, water management, fertilizers, irrigation, Agricultural.
  • Technology, and organic pest management.
  • Knowledge of HACCP and Food Safety Laws.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality about all aspects of the job at all times.
