JOB FILLED - Commodities Manager

Job Description: 

Dole is currently looking for a Commodities Manager that will be responsible for ensuring and maintaining a master plan and orderly flow of product from the field to the customer, sustaining an appropriate price for the product, and supporting a reliable flow of information from our field and the industry to our sales staff.

This role also requires interactions with many other divisions within the company, so the ability to engage in clear communication with the members of other departments is key.

Requirements: 
  • Ability to carry/move up to 40 pounds and ability to sit, stand, crouch.
  • Possession of a cell phone and laptop.
  • Ability to travel as needed domestic and international 
  • May be required to work more than 40 hours a week
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Set product prices on a daily basis, set ad prices for future periods, and set short term lid prices 
  • Coordinate with field harvest supervisors on a daily basis to get volume forecasts for upcoming weeks 
  • Develop a weekly pack plan for farm and cooler operations and communicate changes on a daily basis 
  • Align pack plans with customer demand to ensure all customer orders are supplied in-full, from multiple shipping points 
  • Collaborate with logistics to ensure on time deliveries based on lead times 
  • Optimize pack plans to create full truck loads and minimize more costly less-than tuck loads 
  • Work with harvesting supervisors to ensure product quality 
  • Communicate product information to salespersons and cooler personnel 
  • Collaborate with sourcing to develop an annual sales plan to cover customer demand 
  • Recommend new items and new packaging to ensure retaining a competitive position in the market 
  • Follow all Food Safety Requirements and GMPs as applicable to position 
  • Other duties as assigned
Education: 
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree in Agriculture or Business Management/Sales or a minimum of 3-4 years related experience
Skills: 
  • Understanding of integrated account management and basic qualitative and quantitative consumer needs analysis, understanding of an account P&L  
  • Computer Programming experience a plus 
  • Has established skills to perform a range of day-to-day activities. 
  • Understands how the assigned duties relate to others in the team and how the team integrates with others in the discipline. 
  • Recognizes and solves typical problems that can occur in own work area without supervisory approval; evaluates and selects solutions from established options. 
  • Impact Impacts own team through the quality of the services or information provided; follows standardized procedures and practices and receives regular but moderate supervision and guidance. 
  • Ability to speak with customers about sourcing and markets within the commodities managed 
  • Ability to interact with growers as needed
Qualifications: 
  • 3-4 years’ product management and or in-house sales experience with the ability to work between Ag Operations and Sales 
  • Have the knowledge and or experience to work with but not limited to finance, supply chain, marketing, production operations, production planning, and sourcing 
  • Bi-Lingual – English/Spanish 
  • Experience in the procurement of materials and product to cover Dole’s grower and/or customer needs 
  • Strong communication, interpersonal skills, analysis & decision making skills
  • Knowledge and ability to use basic software programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes, Cognos, BI tools; extensive knowledge of the commodity markets and how they work
