Job Description: 

Smith Gardens, a wholesale nursery, has an exciting opportunity for an Inventory Supervisor to join our Marysville, WA team!

An Inventory Supervisor leads the inventory team to monitor and evaluate inventory ready dates based on sales demand, spec. changes and plant readiness. Ensure as much product as possible is shipped to the customers and shrink is minimized.  Coordinates physical inventory on hand and transactional accuracy for fiscal reporting.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Maintain close relationships with Home Office replenishment analysts to determine product replenishment levels in stores.

  • Oversee scheduling to make sure items get to their destination on time, and product shortages are minimized.

  • Participate in weekly site inventory walk-throughs with site and/or corporate leadership to evaluate crops and determine ship-ready dates.

  • Utilize inventory management software to track inventory

  • Manage and track Brokered Product as specified by company procedure to ensure compliance with labor tracking.
  • Review orders from committed items report and batch list to ensure product is available when needed for orders, downhaul, or transfer to another facility.
  • Review site inventory allocation and other information needed for weekly sales- planning meeting.

  • Maintain relationship with Cost & Inventory Manager regarding finished inventory physical counts and on-hand accuracy; collaborate on year-end walk-through and audits.

  • Recommend adjustments to corporate production schedule.

  • Oversee transplant crop counts and movement-tracking to ensure they remain properly identified.

  • Coordinate with shipping to ensure all processes and procedures are followed when orders are changed.

  • Verify that weekly cycle counts on scheduled crops are completed and assist in resolving any serious errors.

  • Communicate any production discrepancies to the appropriate department for resolution.
Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, supply chain management or similar preferred

  • Intermediate math skills; percentages and basic statistics

  • Two years’ experience in the logistics, warehouse or inventory field, plus 5 years’ experience in a management role preferred

  • Experience with inventory management software a plus

  • Solid computer skills in MS Office Suite

  • Basic plant knowledge needed

  • 3 years’ experience in greenhouse or nursery environment preferred
