Job Description: 

This position is responsible for supervising, monitoring and evaluating all day-to-day accounting activities. Responsible for oversight and maintenance of accounts payable records, including purchase orders, credit memos, invoices, check requests, and/or payment copies for performing account research, reconciliations, and audit assistance, as necessary. Assists with strict adherence to the Company’s financial controls, provides research and financial analysis expertise. The Accounting Manager is a key member of the financial management structure who will develop a high-performance team by engaging the right talent, ensuring a balanced workload, an inspiring your employees to grow.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Oversee accounting daily operations 
  • Take responsibility for accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, check runs and general ledger activity 
  • Leads and directs the month end close process for accounts payable and cash receipts 
  • Assists in the development and implementation of departmental goals, policies and procedures related to accounting activities 
  • Establishes and maintains internal controls 
  • Reviews, recommends and implements improvements to accounting methods 
  • Ensures conformity to policies and accounting standards and increases effectiveness of financial procedures. 
  • Manage, supervise, train and evaluate assigned staff; provides or coordinates staff training; provides expertise and direction to staff. 
  • Responsible for coordination of rebates 
  • Responds to requests for information and advises other departments of the Company’s accounting policies. 
  • Maintain all files necessary for financial reporting and assure all accounting reconciliations, and reports are completed as required 
  • Provides management level assistance to the Director of Accounting 
  • Assists with the preparation of schedules for the financial statement audit and coordination of support requests. 
  • Assist in 1099 and tax related matters, such as collecting and reviewing documents and payments made to new vendors, following up on missing W-9s, performing annual 1099 reports and analysis, implementing corrections, and creating files for submission to IRS. 
  • Investigates and resolves accounting related issues for cash receipts, accounts payable and rebates in a timely manner 
  • Assign goals for performance and deadlines that are in accordance with company’s mission 

  • Organizing workflow, delegating, and ensuring staff understand individual responsibilities 

  • Oversee employee productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching when necessary 

  • Ensure all operations are executed efficiently so as to ensure profitability and sustainability 

  • Superintend timekeeping and personnel records, including performance evaluations 

  • Maintain compliance to company policies, procedures, and safety practices and addressing disciplinary actions when required 

Education: 
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work accounting 

  • CPA or candidate is preferred 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel 

  • Knowledge of Famous software preferred

  • Bilingual – English/Spanish preferred 

Qualifications: 
  • Understanding of GAAP 

  • Self-starter and have the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities. 

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and take responsibility for timely and accurate completion of tasks assigned. 

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, possessing a high level of problem solving and analytical abilities. 

  • Ability to coach, guide, mentor, and develop assigned staff
