We are seeking a Sales Manager who will be able to oversee and nurture the management of all sales and customer relationships for the company. The position will be responsible for leading an experienced team of Sales Associates and he/she will report to our president. He/she will also work closely with our Director of Procurement, Director of Marketing, warehouse personnel, and other key positions that have an impact on our product and customer sales. The successful candidate will have a track record of leading successful customer relationships, be results-driven, understand what motivates customers, and have experience in fresh produce.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • The Sales Manager is responsible for a staff comprised of sales associates and assistants and will need to ensure that the sales people under his/her supervision provide quality service, quality products and timely problem resolution for our clients.
  • Manage and motivate each sales person to ensure that they contact their entire customer base and offer our product line to each account.
  • Review inventory on a daily basis to ensure that product is available for sale and will cover customer’s needs.
  • Holds each sales person accountable for reaching their budget/goals weekly and coaches them to improve performance.
  • Works closely with procurement to ensure pricing and product allocations are optimal.
  • Receives telephone requests for price quotation, purchase orders, order changes, adjustments and cancellations directly from out of state and foreign countries. 
  • Works to develop new business and prospect new accounts based overall company segmentation of account goals. Sets visits.
  • Become point person for all product and quality related issues in sales and work with operations, QC and procurement to correct them.
  • Coordinates with other Departments such as production and purchasing to ensure those products that will arrive are available for sale on a particular day and type of action to take with old products. Discusses quality issues and resolutions with other team leaders daily.     
  • Handles customer service issues in a professional manner handling disputes and processing customer credits and other issues. 
  • Conduct and manage all daily sales working with procurement to optimize sales profit margins, units sold and dollar sales. 
  • Work closely with QC and follows through to make sure produce sold is of the highest quality and sold to right customers.
  • Responsible to see that all required reports are completed timely and that employees under his/her supervision check all procedural checklists morning, evening at closing and on weekends. Ensures team is prospecting for new business daily.
  • Follows company policy and employee handbook guidelines consistently to the best of his/her ability, including reward programs and disciplinary processes.
  • Strives to prevent any type of a situation that could result in violation of company rules, federal or state laws.     
  • Communicates and coordinates effectively with other department supervisors and human resources staff.
  • Monitors performance weekly and provides constructive feedback and make adjustments as needed to reach goals.
  • The Sales Manager is responsible for a staff of approximately 10 employees, which includes supervisors and FSQA staff.   
  • The Sales Manager needs to be a good communicator and possess excellent leadership and people skills as a front-line manager in order to develop and maintain a congenial, motivated and productive working atmosphere.

Education: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, communications or liberal arts.
  • Experience managing and motivating people.
  • At least 5 years’ experience sourcing or selling perishables.
  • Strong product knowledge and understanding of farm capabilities.
  • Sense of urgency and ability to work within team environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and communication skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communicator.
  • Spanish speaker preferred.
