We are now seeking a Production Manager to join our team In Watsonville, CA and Yuma, AZ.

The Production Manager is directly responsible for all aspects of final product packaging of. A diverse set of leafy green products including multiple packaging types. The Production Manager possesses the skills and expertise to run production effectively and efficiently. The position works cross departmentally to ensure the high standards necessary to succeed are met.

Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
  • Mechanical skills: ability to operate, maintain and troubleshoot packing room equipment. Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to operate a forklift with safety and precision
  • English and Spanish preferred but not required
  • Ability to put together a written plan and adjust and communicate timely when that plan changes
  • Strong multi-tasking skills 
  • Strong written, verbal and telephone communication skills
  • Work in cold environment throughout the day
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Communicate daily with the Sales Department and Operations Manager to coordinate production activities. Review actual and/or potential product or production issues
  • Conduct machine start-up, operation and shutdown of assigned packing lines. Conduct machine changeovers and resets for various packaging types and sizes. Aim to minimize downtime
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained and in good and sanitary operating condition
  • Use company’s ERP software to build jobs for the packing according to first in first out priority. Ensure that data for each run is being tracked correctly within the company’s ERP software
  • Monitor and supervise all employees on the packing lines to ensure maximized production while producing a finished product that meets or exceed quality and food safety standards
  • Builds people capabilities through effective employee and labor relations, hiring, training and communication. Create a work environment that has a positive effect on employee. Leads in the coaching, discipline and termination of directly reporting staff members
  • Maintain accurate and up to date food safety logs. Participate in the Food Safety Committee. Be a role model to employees by following food safety policies
  • Have a reasonable knowledge of safety procedures and implement them on the job as needed. Participate in the Safety Committee. Stay current on OSHA laws
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of packing shed and surrounding areas
  • Ensure daily packing costs meet or exceed standards provided by the Operations Manager (budget). Maximize efficiency and minimize labor on a daily basis. Track key performance indicators/costs
  • Ensure that Quality Control standards for packaging are being met at all times. Ensure correct raw and packaging materials are used
  • Communicate to the Operations Manager ensure that materials are on hand for daily requirements. Inventory materials as directed by the Operations Manager
  • Meet work deadlines with a sense of urgency
