Wawona is a California-based supplier of high-quality stone fruit and a leader in the organic segment of the market. Our plants and offices are located in Reedley, Sanger, Kerman, Cutler, and Fresno, California. The Senior Accountant works in the Fresno corporate office and contributes to the accuracy and completeness of the company’s general ledger activity. The senior accountant also assists in executing a short monthly close and reporting cycle to verify the accuracy of reported financial information and to identify transactions and trends that should receive the attention of management.
- Review of accounts payable transactions
- Manage financial aspects of employee benefits
- Prepare journal entries and perform reconciliations for balance sheet accounts in support of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles
- Assist the Divisional Controller in the preparation of all prepared-by-client (PBC) schedules for year-end audit and tax return preparation purposes
- Prepare monthly and annual sales and use tax returns
- Review, analyze, and file property and water tax assessments
- Manage the Workers’ Compensation insurance audit
- Manage various tax credits and incentives (such as the Work Opportunity Tax Credit and the Enterprise Zone Tax Credit)
- Participate in key initiatives such as business process redesign, cost savings initiatives, and system development projects
- Review accounting processes and recommend changes as needed
- Maintain a comprehensive set of accounting policies and procedures
- Other duties as required
- BA/BS in Accounting/Finance required
- Minimum 3 years of accounting or finance experience required
- Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills required
- Previous ERP software experience preferred
- Superior computer skills required (Excel, Access)
- Ability to manage large amounts of data
- Excellent attention to detail is a must
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment
