Compensation: Salary DOE + benefits (medical, dental, 401k, paid vacation & sick time)

The Position
We have an immediate need for a Business Development Director to join our 104-year-old produce company during an exciting stage of growth and acceleration. This position will work closely with our Business Development and Marketing teams to help achieve total-company development goals and functions. Primary areas of focus include customer account management and growth, new customer development, and execution of retail promotions.
This is a senior-level position with exposure to the multifaceted areas of business within Giumarra, including sales, marketing, and category management. The ideal candidate should have demonstrated experience and contacts within the fresh produce industry.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Be a key contributor to The Giumarra Companies’ growth and profitability.
- Represent Giumarra’s products and services to customers.
- Understand customers’ business drivers and market-specific challenges to successfully identify strategic opportunities with profitable accounts.
- Manage every aspect of a customer’s business, including category management, programs, and supply chain systems.
- In collaboration with the Marketing team, develop and successfully execute creative, engaging consumer promotions and marketing activities that increase sales and penetration with retail customer accounts.
- Ensure that Giumarra adds value as a supplier and is considered a key vendor by customers.
- Maintain excellent, collaborative working relationships with The Giumarra Companies’ 11+ sales divisions to foster trust and continuously identify new opportunities and solutions.
- Professionally represent Giumarra at industry tradeshows, customer meetings, and other events as needed (40% travel required, including multi-day trips).
- Actively promote the company’s philosophy of service and integrity in all internal and external interactions.
Qualifications & Requirements
- An undergraduate BA/BS.
- 8+ years professional work experience, preferably in the fresh produce industry.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Ability to meet tight deadlines while executing multiple tasks and projects with attention to detail.
- Must be flexible, adaptable to change, and able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills and a professional bearing.
- Possess a high degree of proactive networking skills and abilities. Ability to solicit and develop new and long-lasting professional relationships with customers and general trade.
- Strong computer skills, with a focus on Microsoft Office and web-based customer portals.
- Experience in creating and executing successful retail promotions.
- A self-starter capable of achieving corporate sales and marketing objectives.
- Demonstrated account management and customer relations experience.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and possibly internationally.
- Ability to work with multiple commodities and sales divisions.
- Must have reliable transportation.
