Job description

Lead the Commercial Strategy for a Growing Global Organization!

Joe Produce Search has been exclusively retained to identify a Head of National Sales, North America for a highly respected international fresh produce company entering an exciting new phase of growth.

This is more than a sales leadership position. It is an opportunity for a strategic executive to influence business direction, shape commercial strategy, strengthen customer partnerships, and build a high-performing sales organization across North America.

The successful candidate will be an accomplished leader who understands the imported fresh fruit business, brings deep relationships with national retailers, and enjoys building organizations that can be scaled. This role offers significant executive visibility, broad responsibility, and a clear runway for continued growth within a global organization.

The Opportunity

Reporting to executive leadership, the Head of National Sales will be responsible for establishing and executing the company's commercial strategy throughout North America. This leader will partner across the organization to accelerate growth, strengthen customer relationships, and build the infrastructure needed to support an expanding business.

We're seeking someone who can think beyond today's sales goals, someone who enjoys developing long-term strategies, mentoring teams, improving processes, and creating sustainable growth.

This is an opportunity to leave a lasting mark on an organization with ambitious growth plans and the resources to achieve them.

Executive Impact

The successful leader will:

  • Develop and execute the commercial vision for North America.
  • Expand strategic partnerships with national retail customers.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing sales organization.
  • Build commercial structure, accountability, and scalable sales processes.
  • Strengthen wholesale and distribution partnerships to maximize market opportunities.
  • Partner closely with operations, supply chain, finance, and executive leadership to drive profitable growth.
  • Utilize forecasting, analytics, and business intelligence to improve commercial decision-making.
  • Represent the organization with customers, growers, and industry partners throughout North America and internationally.

Who We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is a respected produce executive who combines strategic vision with a hands-on leadership style.

Qualifications include:

  • Senior sales leadership experience within the fresh produce industry.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing commercial growth strategies.
  • Strong relationships with national retail produce customers.
  • Significant experience with imported or offshore fresh fruit programs.
  • Berry industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to build strategy rather than simply manage an existing book of business.
  • Experience creating organizational structure, developing teams, and leading growth initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of wholesale and distribution channels.
  • Experience utilizing forecasting, reporting, analytics, and ERP systems to support business decisions.
  • Outstanding leadership, communication, and executive presence.
  • Willingness to travel throughout North America and internationally.

Why This Opportunity Stands Apart

This is a rare opportunity to join a globally respected produce organization during a period of significant expansion.

Unlike many executive sales positions, this role offers the opportunity to:

  • Influence company strategy at the executive level.
  • Build and shape the future of the North American commercial organization.
  • Lead transformational growth rather than simply maintain existing business.
  • Collaborate with an experienced international leadership team.
  • Create lasting organizational impact while positioning yourself for continued executive advancement.

For an accomplished produce executive with experience in berries or imported fresh fruit, this role offers the chance to build something meaningful while helping shape the future of a growing global business.

The Details

Location: East Coast preferred, although flexibility exists for an exceptional candidate.

Travel: Domestic and international travel required.

Compensation: A highly competitive executive compensation package will be offered, commensurate with experience.
