Job description
BlazerWilkinsonGee, LLC (BWG), a multi-generation strawberry grower and shipper in Salinas, CA, is hiring a Lead Mechanic / Shop Foreman to manage our shop operations and oversee maintenance and repairs for all field and harvest equipment. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for keeping our fleet field-ready and our shop team organized, efficient, and safe.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily shop operations and supervise mechanics, welders, and helpers.
- Diagnose and repair diesel, hydraulic, and electrical systems on tractors, trucks, and harvest equipment. Determine which repairs can be done in-house and which need to me outsourced.
- Schedule and prioritize work based on field needs and equipment downtime.
- Oversee parts ordering, vendor relations, and preventative maintenance programs.
- Ensure shop safety, Cal/OSHA compliance, and organized record-keeping.
- Train and mentor junior mechanics and field operators.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in ag or heavy-equipment repair (strawberry/row crop preferred).
- 2+ years in a supervisory or foreman role.
- Proficiency with John Deere, Kubota, or New Holland tractors.
- Welding/fabrication experience.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
- Valid CA Driver’s License (Class A preferred).
Schedule & Compensation
- Full-time, year-round position
- Mostly shop-based with some field service calls
- Saturdays required during peak season (half-days)
- Competitive hourly wage (DOE) or potential salary based on experience, company vehicle or mileage reimbursement, benefits, 401(k), and PTO
