Maintenance & Sanitation Supervisor

Legacy Cooling, a pre-cooling and cold storage warehouse management company in Salinas, CA & Yuma, AZ, is seeking a Supervisor level individual to add to a growing and dynamic team.  This individual would oversee, train, and enforce all areas pertaining to site sanitation and forklift preventative maintenance.  This includes conducting daily site inspections, overseeing digital sanitation food safety reports, covering sanitation employees when absent and during transition, maintaining site cleanliness and order, forklift cleaning and greasing daily, communication with forklift repair vendors, ordering and managing site supplies, and assisting with miscellaneous projects that pertain to site maintenance, vacuum tube tear down/set up, and handyman type work. Work would be conducted at multiple fixed site warehouses (coolers), as well as procuring supplies with various vendors in the area.

This is a high-level position that will work directly under the direction of the CEO and the COO, as well as in conjunction with facility managers and company vendors.

Seeking applicant with the following experience:

• Minimum 3 years of experience working in agriculture as a mechanic, refrigeration technician, or site sanitation supervisor or foreman.
• Experience in purchasing, vendor management, mechanical work, and management of food safety / safety materials, facility supplies, and PPE, including chemicals (soaps, acids, grease).
• Leadership or management experience, managing at least 2 or more individuals at a time.
• Basic computer and email skills

Mandatory:

• Read, write, and converse in English.  Spanish speaking not mandatory, but preferred.
• Proficiency level for Spanish and English – Able to comprehend maintenance and food safety SOPs, give trainings (in both languages preferred), and discuss topics, needs, and suggestions at a professional level.
• Lift up to 50 lbs, prolonged standing, walking, and sitting
• Able to work 10-to-12-hour days
• Valid US driver’s license and clean driving record
• Travel to/from and live in the following cities during the year: Yuma, AZ (November to April) & Salinas, CA (April to November)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Word & Excel)
• Read, write, and respond to daily emails

Preferred:

• Mechanical experience
• Refrigeration (ammonia) experience
• Knowledge of piping (pvc, hoses, clasps) & plumbing
• Knowledge of forklift preventative maintenance (grease points, types of grease & lubes)
• Knowledge of electrical (wiring pig tails, forklift charging stations)

Work Schedule:

• Monday through Saturday – 55-65 hours per week
• Occasional Sundays
