Farm Food Safety Compliance Analyst - Cal Organic
Job description
JOB LOCATION: CAL-ORGANIC, Lamont CA
SHIFT: DAYS
REPORTS TO: SENIOR FOOD SAFETY MANAGER - FARMING
PURPOSE:
To support and strengthen the company's farm food safety programs through compliance management, data analytics, document control, food safety software administration, and audit preparation activities. This position functions as a professional compliance specialist under the guidance of the Farming Food Safety Manager and is responsible for maintaining compliance with Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) audit schemes, the FSMA Produce Safety Rule, LGMA requirements, and customer expectations. The role serves as a key resource for food safety data management, compliance reporting, records administration, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring records and systems remain audit-ready and compliant with regulatory and customer requirements.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in food safety compliance, auditing, quality assurance, document control, data management, or related agricultural compliance programs.
- Demonstrated experience creating, updating, implementing, and maintaining food safety programs, procedures, and records.
- Knowledge of GAPs, GFSI audit schemes, FSMA Produce Safety Rule, and LGMA required.
- Experience managing document control systems and maintaining food safety records in accordance with company, customer, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, validate, analyze, trend, and report food safety and compliance data.
- Experience utilizing food safety, compliance management, quality management, or related software systems.
- Experience preparing documentation and coordinating records for internal, customer, regulatory, and certification audits.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to train, mentor, and collaborate across diverse teams.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision while working under manager direction.
- Employee may be required to work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays if needed.
- Bi-lingual, English/Spanish required.

PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Four-year degree in Food Science, Biology, Agronomy, Business Administration, Data Analytics, or a related field preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel; experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools preferred.
- Bi-lingual, English/Spanish, preferred.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Support the Senior Food Safety Manager in maintaining and improving farm food safety programs across multiple crops and regions.
- Coordinate audit preparation activities and maintain audit-ready documentation for third-party, regulatory, customer, and internal audits.
- Facilitate responses to customer information requests, audit documentation requests, and compliance record reviews.
- Collect, validate, analyze, and maintain food safety and compliance data to support program effectiveness and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop routine reports, compliance metrics, dashboards, and trend analyses to monitor food safety performance and key performance indicators.
- Maintain document control systems, including policies, procedures, forms, training records, audit records, and food safety documentation.
- Ensure controlled documents are reviewed, approved, distributed, revised, and archived in accordance with company document control requirements.
- Serve as the primary administrator or key user for food safety and compliance software systems, including maintaining data integrity, system records, workflows, and user support.
- Track audit findings, corrective actions, preventative actions, and verification activities to ensure timely completion and effectiveness.
- Conduct risk assessments and assist in identifying areas of potential food safety concern and opportunities for improvement.
- Protect security and confidentiality of company records and information.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Food Safety Manager.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to remain in a stationary position throughout much of the working day. Ability to move about inside office and operational environments, including farms, production facilities, and warehouses. Ability to operate a computer and standard office equipment. Must be able to work in a high noise environment.
STARTING WAGE: $70,304 - $75,000 DOE
