Position Summary

Mendez International is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead evening operations at our Hunts Point Market facility. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for overseeing all operational departments while ensuring exceptional customer service, product quality, inventory accuracy, employee safety, and operational efficiency.

The successful candidate will be an experienced produce professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume distribution environment and has a proven track record of leading teams and driving results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all operational departments within the facility.
  • Oversee receiving, warehouse operations, inventory control, order selection, shipping, transportation coordination, and quality assurance.
  • Supervise department managers, supervisors, and warehouse personnel.
  • Ensure product quality, inventory accuracy, and proper cold chain management.
  • Drive labor productivity while maintaining excellent customer service.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, OSHA regulations, and food safety standards.
  • Coordinate daily operations to meet customer delivery schedules.
  • Develop, coach, and hold leadership teams accountable for operational performance.
  • Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.


Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of management experience in the fresh produce industry (required).
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple operational departments.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience in high-volume wholesale produce distribution.
  • Thorough understanding of warehouse operations, inventory management, food safety, and transportation logistics.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with warehouse management systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred but not required.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work in refrigerated warehouse environments for extended periods.
  • Ability to work evening shifts and additional hours as business needs require.
