Job Description:
We are dedicated to the success of both our suppliers and customers offering them real time product information through the use of our proprietary product development system.
We are looking for a Product Development Specialist for our Santa Maria, CA location.
The objective of this position is to evaluate the performance of new vegetable varieties within grower fields thereby gathering the necessary data to enable recommendations of the best varieties for our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct seeding or transplanting test plots according to trial plans of the sales colleagues and Product Development Manager (PDM).
- Entering trail planting details and evaluations in trial tracking system.
- Following up on planted trials for thinning, seed germination and maturity for performance evaluation.
- Sending maturity notifications just prior to performance evaluation
- Daily communication with PDM and Sales Colleagues
- Seeding trays
- Other duties as required
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Post high school training in agricultural sciences or relevant work experience
- Ideally candidate will possess training in plant sciences or relevant work experience
- Clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50lbs
- Ability to work in harsh conditions: wind, heat and cold
Skills and Competencies:
- High level of attention to detail
- Use of mobile phone, laptop and all associated applications
Work Schedule:
- Work hours are generally 7am to 5pm Monday through Friday
- Saturday work hours may be required depending on planting or harvesting schedules

Compensation/Salary:
$26.50/hr - $31.25/hr
