JOB FILLED - Greenhouse Engineer

Job Description: 

Local Bounti is seeking to hire a Greenhouse Engineer for our Bounti Bitterroot, Montana facility.

The Greenhouse Engineering role will work as the main liaison between the greenhouse manufacturer and the engineering, design, and construction teams for a range of greenhouse projects. The Greenhouse Engineer will have a depth of knowledge that includes a thorough understanding of greenhouse layout and design, as well as systems/ feature selection, system analysis, and understanding of construction phases.

Responsibilities

Acts as a liaison with greenhouse companies on the design, layout, and greenhouse features selection (eg., glazing materials, roof pitch, lighting, shading, ventilation, mechanization & control systems), and other advanced design decisions.

  • Maintain overall goal of producing high value crops in an efficient and environmentally friendly manner, while also ensuring long-term durability of structure.
  • Work with VP of Engineering to create mechanical drawings, construction drawings/ blueprints, and conduct other studies and analyses as it relates to greenhouse/ controlled environment systems and structures.
  • Be able to explain greenhouse design decisions, and future implications of those decisions – both positive and negative – as part of design qualification process.
  • Will develop, own, and maintain greenhouse design basis criteria, managing through the design and construction phases of multiple greenhouse projects.
  • Partner with equipment manufacturers to develop and manufacture solutions that may be needed, and stay abreast of technology developments in the industry.
  • During construction of the facility, the Greenhouse Engineer will support project management with RFIs, construction issues, and general project oversight.
  • This position partners with cross-functional team members and senior leadership to identify and pursue improvements for the facilities meeting positive ROI, supports the group with development of best-in-class project management processes, and seeks out opportunities to increase competitive advantage.
  • Will lead the efforts pertaining to our design standards and may help develop equipment specifications for other greenhouses. • Proposes innovative solutions and strategizes with team to resolve concerns and conflicts
  • Stays current with industry trends by participating in seminars and training events and shares knowledge with team

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Agricultural Engineering from an accredited University. Advanced Degree desirable.
  • Ability to create 2D and 3D drawings and layouts. Advanced understanding of MEP principles desired.
  • Experience with CFD modeling, FEA analysis, and related simulation tools a plus.
  • Able to apply theoretical knowledge to achieve cost-effective, constructible design solutions.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively; to express ideas; to share information; and to prepare clear, well-organized correspondence, reports and similar documents.
  • Strong desire to learn, while actively applying knowledge base to challenges and problems
