About Our Company:
Van Solkema Family Farms. is headquartered in Byron Center, MI, located just 10 miles south of the beautiful and bustling city of Grand Rapids. Here we handle the sales and packaging side of our business, while our growers keep us supplied with more than 1000 acres of year-round mixed vegetables from Florida and Georgia. We are growing fast and the demand is high for our fresh produce, and that means we are expanding and changing as the market requires. We currently employ approximately 35 full-time workers and 55 seasonal, and we are anxious to add new talent to our growing and enthusiastic family of employees.

Our Area:
Byron Center, located in West Michigan, is within an easy commute to Grand Rapids, Holland, Kalamazoo and Lansing. The area is diverse in land use, ranging from rolling farms to suburban neighborhoods, from thriving commercial districts to 21st Century Industrial facilities. The farming community has a strong tradition here, and exists happily alongside the fast-paced activities of busy families and growing businesses.

Our History:
At Van Solkema Family Farms we have a long and proud history in the Michigan farming community, tracing our family roots in fresh produce as far back as 1896 when Gerrit Van Solkema came to the U.S. from the Netherlands. Since then we have seen many changes and much growth in our business, yet our main focus has always remained on the quality of our products and the integrity of our team.
