The Role
We are seeking a high-energy, detail-oriented Cold Storage Manager to oversee our facility operations within the Kern County, CA area. This is a pivotal supervisory role where you will bridge the gap between logistics, maintenance, and safety. Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership: Oversee receiving, cooling, and shipping functions to ensure a smooth, efficient flow.
- Logistics & Efficiency: Ensure trucks are loaded promptly and pre-stage dock inventory as needed to minimize wait times.
- Inventory Mastery: Maximize product arrangement and space utilization within both dry and cold storage rooms.
- Facility & Maintenance: Coordinate with the maintenance department to ensure the facility is pristine and well-maintained.
- Safety & Compliance: Monitor strict adherence to food safety regulations and ensure all forklift personnel complete daily safety checklists.
- The Face of the Company: Foster a culture of respect by ensuring drivers and customers are treated professionally and team members are in uniform and communicating effectively.
Who You Are
You are a leader who understands that the "magic" of the produce industry happens in the cold chain. You balance a "safety first" mindset with the urgency required to keep shipping docks moving.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree OR an Associate’s Degree with 10+ years of related supervisory experience.
- Industry Expertise: 2–3 years of hands-on produce experience, specifically with table grapes.
- Team Leadership: CalARP management experience and proven track record of managing and motivating large teams including receiving, warehousing, sanitation and shipping.
- Technical Skills: Strong computer literacy (Microsoft Office) and refrigeration troubleshooting skills. Electrical knowledge and extensive knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems. Knowledge of CalArp/PSM programs.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor.
The "Plus" Factors (Preferred):
- Bilingual in Spanish.
- Proficiency with Famous Software.
- Advanced IT knowledge.
