JOB FILLED - Quality Control

Kingsburg Orchards is seeking to hire a Quality Control professional for their team in Kingsburg, CA.

This individual will be responsible for physically inspecting fresh produce at various warehouses.  At the direction of the Kingsburg Orchards sales department, you'll travel to warehouses, farms, and facilities to grade product using USDA and Kingsburg Orchards guidelines and communicate those findings back to sales.

General Requirements:

• High School Diploma/ GED required
• 1-2 years of experience in a similar position or a strong desire to learn produce inspection.
• Knowledge of Famous software preferred
• Proficiency in MS Office and Outlook and working w/ attachments
• Ability to use iPhone for voice and data communication
• Ability to learn the Famous inventory program
• Some Spanish speaking ability a plus
• Able to lift 45 pounds over head (weight of box of apples)
• Able to stand for long periods of time
• Valid driver’s license
• Able to travel each day to various locations
• Perform quality work within deadlines with or without supervision
• Interact professionally with other employees, customers, and suppliers
• Work effectively as team contributor on all assignments
• Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other managers, employees, and organizations

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Using USDA and Kingsburg Orchards customer specifications, grade products for quality, condition, weight and size.
• Understand the use of tools needed for quality inspections to include refractometers, sizers, scales, calipers, and other measuring devices.
• Communicate through voice and data the results of the findings
• Select specific lots of produce to be loaded on specific trucks and ensure the correct loading is accomplished
• Be prepared to travel to different warehouses and fields
• Execute the Kingsburg Orchards standard QA/QC sheet in both written and Excel form
• Collaborate with all sales teams requiring this information and other Kingsburg Orchards quality personnel on specific quality issues requiring resolution
• Collaborate with USDA Produce Inspectors for needed quality federal inspections to ensure resolution of issues
• Collaborate with packing line regarding any specific concerns with QA (i.e. size concerns, bruising, etc.) in order to help the provider better serve Kingsburg Orchards.
• Execute quality checks on the product in the cooler suitability for shipment
• Work with Kingsburg Fruit Packing and Cornerstone Packing and Cooling operations managers in order to enhance and improve all the quality functions throughout.
