Job Description:
Prophet is a software provider for the fresh and chilled perishable produce business. We have offices on three continents, and customers across the globe in all aspects of the perishable supply chain. Prophet North America has two offices in California – in Bakersfield, and a new office about to be opened in Santa Clarita.
The role is a combination of IT manager for a division of an ERP software house, with additional responsibilities to assist in the technical / infrastructure aspects of client implementations, and to undertake some ongoing consulting activity with clients. There is a revenue earning aspect to this role, as well as the internal responsibilities.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Internal
- Configuration and maintenance of the internal ICT network and hardware
- Manage network security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus & intrusion detection systems
Client Facing
- Client infrastructure surveys
- Specification and recommendation of network and hardware solutions
- Software loading / service management / installation trouble shooting – on site with clients and via remote access tools
- General server and network support
Education and Experience:
- College Degree required – ideally in a computing discipline
- 5+ years post grad experience in IT network support and management
Skills:
- Ability to communicate clearly in order to provide technical support over the telephone or internet
Travel Requirements:
There will be a requirement to work away from the home office – the successful applicant will be based in the Santa Clarita head office, and will also cover IT management for the Bakersfield office.
Work for clients will primarily be in SoCal and the central valley of California. Much of the work outside of head office will be done remotely, but it will also be necessary to attend client sites from time to time. Candidates should be prepared to travel up to 50% with occasional flights and overnight stays.
Technical Experience – Essential
Server setup and deployment:
- Windows Server Operating Systems – Installation and Trouble Shooting
- MS SQL Server – Installation and Trouble Shooting
- MS Exchange – Installation and Trouble Shooting
Network Infrastructure setup, management, and troubleshooting:
- Network performance monitoring and tuning for speed & availability
- Server builds and configurations including RAID and virtualization technology
- Installation, configuration and maintenance of network hardware, such as routers & switches
- Multi-site network partitioning and management (VPN and router configuration)
- Installation, configuration and upgrade management of network software, such as enterprise antivirus programs
- Firewall management
- Backup management
- Implementation and maintenance of emergency failover systems for critical elements of the network
- Management of user access to sensitive data & files
Technical Experience – Desirable
- Experience of administering an IT environment supporting an ERP solution
- Experience of RF / Wireless Hardware Technologies, with a working knowledge of physical network setup and equipment requirements for large scale wireless networks (eg in a warehouse environment)
- Installation and support of networked telecommunications devices including Voip systems
- Experience of taking remote control of end-users' computers to troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve complex issues
Additional Desirable Experience
- Customer facing experience
- Experience of training end-users how to use and / or setup new technologies
- Experience in the use of specialized help desk support software
Compensation/Salary:
$60,000
