Steven Lyles Farms, Inc. is a multiple crop farm; primarily Lettuce, Onions, Chile, Pecans, and Forage Crops; in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Due to our location, we have year-round crop seasons and some crops have two harvest seasons.
We have an immediate opening for a Foreman/Assistant Manager to join our operations in Las Cruces, NM.
The Foreman/Assistant Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing a team of permanent employees. Coordinate field preparations, plantings, irrigation schedules and chemical applications all correlative with farm owner and crop consultant. Keep an inventory of fertilizers and pesticides used and purchased in company software as well as plantings. Supervise and coordinate contract labor employees to include harvest, weeding, and farm labor. Operate farm equipment as needed. Ensure proper maintenance of equipment and vehicles. Assist with coordinating and in-sure everyone is following Food Safety guidelines.
The person we’re looking for has:
- 3-5 years experience in growing and farming
- Bi-Lingual (English & Spanish) required
- Computer knowledge
- Have high school diploma, college a plus
- Knowledge of irrigation methods and chemical applications
- Ability to operate a tractor with various implements and equipment maintenance
- Knowledge of Food Safety requirements a plus
- Clean driving record
- Reliable and respectful of others
- Highly motivated
- Results oriented manager
- Ability to plan ahead and look at whole picture
- Use a “Hands On” manager style
