Thomas Produce, Inc. is the largest grower, packer, shipper of organic sweet potato in the U.S. Over 80% of California's sweet potato and yam production happens where we are in Merced County. Our company has an incredible opportunity for a Plant Engineer to be directly involved in new changes coming our way. This position will dive deep into our company's growth and help transform our current processes to the next level. The Plant Engineer will oversee our sweet potato packing line's electrical and mechanical systems. This person will be involved in installation of equipment, train in-depth with our equipment vendors, focus on efficiencies, increase productivity, and best troubleshooting techniques.
The Plant Engineer will be responsible for all matters concerning plant layout, plant design, line relocation, line redesign, process piping and new/replacement equipment installations. The Plant Engineer will be based in Atwater, CA.
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:
- A Bachelor's degree and three (3) to five (5) years of Engineering experience, OR
- Seven (7) + years of experience in the Engineering field, OR
- Any similar combination of education and experience.
- Ability to comprehend, read, write, and communicate proficiently in English.
- 2+ appliable certfiications (Rockweel Automation, FANUC, NFPA, UL etc).
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Food and Beverage background.
Ideal candidates will have a strong understanding of all plant layout matters including mechanical, electrical, PLC driven equipment and the whole gamut of setting up an operational floor. Food or Beverage experience is required.
