JOB FILLED - Farm Operations Manager - CONFIDENTIAL #7464

Job Description: 
Large vertically integrated tree fruit organization is looking to add to our team. Specifically, we are searching for a highly motivated Farm Operations Manager. This Farm Operations Manager will evaluate, plan, organize, and manage all farming and harvesting operations. The Farm Operations Manager will provide leadership and coordination of general farming administration, accounting, budgeting, and planning of our continued development and eventual farming and harvesting.  The Farm Operations Manager will report directly to the VP of Operations. The Farm Site Managers and Equipment Maintenance Managers will report directly to the Farm Operations Manager. 
 
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Recruit, train, develop and manage farming personnel; develop new and existing employees through coaching and leadership
  • Ensure members of farm team have the depth and experience to be a winning team well into the future
  • Assist with strategic and operational planning
  • Oversee the continued planting and development 
  • Oversee and contribute to overall farm budgeting
  • Direct all activities necessary to operate and support our farms at maximum efficiency; Direct and coordinate farm development, plating, irrigation, pruning, thinning, harvesting, and training to maximize premium quality and yield of crop; effectiveness and efficiency of employees  within established budgets; 
  • Contribute towards profitability and growth of the Company; 
  • Work with teammates on the farm as well as teammates in other departments including- Accounting, Human Resource, H2A Administrators, Director or Horticulture and Ag Chem and outside services providers to optimize farming operations.
  • Manage maintenance, repair, and replacement of all farming structures, equipment, and supplies; Manage harvest intervals with packing house interaction; 
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal ordinances, regulations, and applicable laws; and, ∙ Ensure employment practices and policies, including food safety and employee safety protocols are enforced and abided by  
  • Communicate effectively with bi-lingual staff
  • Attend annual industry workshops and conferences
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Good interpersonal and team-building skills with a positive attitude and ability to establish relationships
  • Knowledge of agricultural production and soil science.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills to small and large groups with an ability to lead and influence 
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred to communicate with majority Spanish speaking workforce
Requirements: 
  • Ability to work extended hours; work nights, weekends or as business needs arise during harvesting season
  • Ability to work well in a team-based environment with a positive attitude 
  • Professional, dependable, principled, and honest.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • A Washington State  Pesticide Applicator License
  • Minimum of 8+ years’  experience required
