JOB FILLED - Farming Equipment Mechanic

Job Description: 

Your duties as Farming Equipment Mechanic will be to diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul farm machinery and vehicles, such as tractors, harvesters, trucks of various classes (personal vehicles to large semi-tractor/trailer rigs) and irrigation systems.

Requirements: 
  • H.S. Diploma or GED, and over 3 years up to and including 5 years of related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Some data entry skills.
  • Valid State Driver’s License.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of: Outlook Communication Management software. Knowledge of Excel Spreadsheet software desirable but not required. Internet Usage; and PC and/or MAC and Windows Usage experience required.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Record details of repairs made and parts used.
  • Reassemble machines and equipment following repair, testing operation and making adjustments as necessary.
  • Maintain, repair, and overhaul farm machinery and vehicles, such as tractors, harvesters, and irrigation systems.
  • Examine and listen to equipment, read inspection reports, and confer with customers to locate and diagnose malfunctions.
  • Dismantle defective machines for repair, using hand tools.
  • Test and replace electrical components and wiring, using test meters, soldering equipment, and hand tools.
  • Repair or replace defective parts, using hand tools, milling and woodworking machines, lathes, welding equipment, grinders, or saws.
  • Clean and lubricate parts.
  • Tune or overhaul engines.
  • Drive trucks to haul tools and equipment for on-site repair of large machinery.
  • Fabricate new metal parts, using drill presses, engine lathes, and other machine tools.
  • Install and repair agricultural irrigation, plumbing, and sprinkler systems.
  • Repair bent or torn sheet metal.
Qualifications: 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Bilingual [Spanish/English] required.
