Employer Summary

In 1970, Bob Vlahopouliotis immigrated to the United States. He worked two jobs to make ends meet and after several years was able to save enough money to get back to his passion, the produce business which he ran successfully in Greece before emigrating to the U.S. He finally did so by opening San Jose Farmers Produce in 1976. With his family by his side the fruit stand was a success. Business grew and expanded over the years as Bob’s son, Chris Vlahopouliotis, joined the company and more focus was given to food service distribution. Delivery trucks were added and the business began sourcing its own produce. After living the American Dream, Bob retired and Chris became president in 2003. In 2008 Paul Jennings became a partner in the firm and the company changed its name to become today’s Daylight Foods, Inc. The focus was now not just on produce, but rather on providing a large range of products for a variety of food service operators.

The company had been located in San Jose since its inception, but with increasing demand and growth, in 2009 Daylight Foods, Inc moved to Milpitas, California. Our current location was built in 2000 and is over 50,000 square feet and includes our processing room, coolers, warehouse, repack areas, dock, office space and transportation yard.
