JOB FILLED - Product Planning Specialist (Hybrid)

Job Description: 

The Product Planning Specialist is responsible for assisting the Sr. Ops & Systems Manager and the Product Planning Manager in facilitating the movement of our organic fruit from the country of origin to our U.S. based warehouse partners and maintaining and managing our inventory at our FOB shipping points on both the east and west coast. It requires a hands-on approach and close collaboration with our growers, sales team, remote warehouses, transportation partners, customs broker, various inspectors, and agencies but may include packaging materials and supplies as the situation necessitates. Communication is essential to this key role, as one of the primary liaisons between our packing line(s) and our sales team. You’ll also work closely with the quality control and the accounting team.

Department Structure: This position reports to the Senior Operations & Systems Manager.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Work with international and domestic growers to assist in any packing, shipping, customs, insurance, logistical, or transportation related issues that may arise from origin.
  • Request, file and maintain applicable shipping documentation, review documentation for accuracy and notify affected parties of changes.
  • Receive product into our system from our warehouses in a timely manner and assist with inventory discrepancies.
  • Monitor inbound shipments, provide shipping information, required documentation and ETA details to appropriate parties and manipulate and import all incoming grower packing lists into current ERP.
  • Work closely with our sales team, transportation partners, warehouses, and inspectors to coordinate inbound shipments and product demand and coordinate multiple container shipments from various domestic ports to our cold storage warehouses in a manner that minimizes delays and cost.
  • Coordinate transfer trucks between facilities as needed.
  • Report out to the Logistics and Supply team all re-pack results and any relevant data sets in a timely manner
  • Assess and analyze the work flow of our third party service providers to ensure efficiency and standards are met
  • Work closely in conjunction with Quality Control to understand arrival conditions as they apply to repack, helping to select the correct lots, considering size, quality, grade and customer instructions.
  • Work closely with the team to understand packaging material supply and demand and create and receive purchase orders.

Policies and Procedures:

  • Assist in developing systems and processes to ensure consistent, proactive behavior.
  • Work with other departments and cross-train to ensure total coverage and consistency of processes and tasks during employee leaves of absence (i.e., vacation, sick etc.).
  • Identify inventory and/or shipping problems; communicate identified issues as necessary to sales staff and/or growers as needed; resolve and follow up on issues to ensure smoother operations

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, with 1-3 years of experience.
  • Interest in organic products highly desirable.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work (and direct) within a team environment

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common industry information and follow the formulation process. Ability to clearly write and communicate effectively and to present information to others.
  • Bilingual English & Spanish preferred
