JOB TITLE: Manager of Harvest Operations 
LOCATION: Multiple Areas 
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt 
REPORTS TO: General Manager 

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Manager Harvesting Operations will be responsible for overseeing all Harvesting Operations. Their goal is to assist in achieving the highest value for each crop while keeping harvest costs at the lowest level and ensuring the picking quality meets Booth Ranches standards.

Workdays are set from Monday through Saturday but can change depending on the season. Job Position is hybrid and is not eligible for full time remote work.

The salary range for this role is $100,000.00 to $125,000.00 per year. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining  agreements, and business or organizational needs.  

No amount of pay is considered wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable. The amount and availability of any bonus, commission, or any other form of compensation that are allocable to a particular employee remains in the Company’s sole discretion unless and until paid and may be modified at the Company’s sole discretion, consistent with the law. 

This position’s basic purpose is to use all available resources to support Booth Ranches’ continuous growth and financial success and this role will be utilized to set excellent harvest procedures that meet the standards of Booth Ranches, LLC. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Understand Booth Ranches harvest standards and procedures 
  • Hire and manage Harvest Team to ensure standards and procedures are met 
  • Negotiate, hire and manage qualifying Farm Labor Contractors 
  • Oversee the coordination of harvest crews for maximum performance 
  • Assess upcoming crop and prepare crop estimates 
  • Forecast and prepare for transitional periods with Sales, Admin and Production departments ∙ Advocate on behalf of the fruit for the best course of action in order to achieve maximum crop value
  • Communicate with Sales Department to understand product specs and quantities needed to harvest
  • Coordinate with Farm and PCA Departments to understand irrigation and treatment needs that may affect harvest
  • Assess and communicate with a sense of urgency any fruit quality/condition or crop estimate changes that may impact harvest plan 
  • Communicate with Outside Packers, Juice Plants and County Departments regarding crop harvest and delivery
  • Ensure crop harvested meets all county, state and federal standards or regulations before picking ∙ Utilize QC inspections and packout data to make harvest decisions
  • Ensure harvest records and receiving data is accurate 
  • Attend multiple meetings; internal management meetings, trainings and external regulatory meetings

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 

  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Business, Food Science, Agriculture, or related field 
  • High school diploma or GED required 
  • 5+ years’ experience in a Lead role, preferably in the Agricultural field 
  • Bilingual in Spanish 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/MENTAL SKILLS/ABILITIES: 

  • Must be able to maintain a valid CA driver’s license with the ability to be insured under company sponsored liability coverage.

  • Willingness to learn and develop

  • Be able to drive long distances following the drivers safety company policy 
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus

  • Far Vision-Ability to see details at a distance
  • Multilimb Coordination-Ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, or driving a vehicle 
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without undue physical exertion and ability to stoop, reach, walk and other physical activities associated with packing house environments
